With exposed ceilings and long wooden benches, this Muslim-owned cafe in Tampines West Community Club oozes casual chic industrial vibes that are perfect for lazy weekend brunches. Bonus points for their friendly staff! Visit for the Butcher's Daughter ($14), a dish that's available only on their weekend brunch menu (9am-5pm). Expect a generous piece of seared sous vide steak cooked to your preferred doneness, served with scrambled eggs and fries on the side. The Burpple community loves how juicy and tasty the meat is; the fluffy eggs and spot-on crispy fries are a happy plus! While you're here, consider ordering the Spiked Muddy Espresso ($6.50) that comes sweetened with gula Melaka.

A Lemon Meringue Tart and a Flourless Chocolate Cake both grace this picture. Konditori (a bakery project by Fika Swedish Café and Bistro) takes on an old-fashioned approach to desserts – keep it simple but make it good.

You won't find any unusual or experimental combinations in their goods, which is a good thing - there's always elegance in simplicity. I loved their Lemon Meringue Tart ($7.50) for its spear-sharp and assertive tanginess. Had me shaking for second! (7.5/10)

Cake Avenue’s elaborate customised cakes sold online has grown a following over the years, and have now set up a brick-and-mortar shop at Lorong Kilat. A visit here will be incomplete without having the Chocolate Red Velvet Cake, comprising three very moist layers slathered in a decadent chocolate frosting. Other cakes worth trying include the Chocolate Fudge Cake, Berries with White Chocolate and Chocolate Caramel Crunch. The bistro also dishes out savoury options like the Double Dog Baked Rice — two jumbo sausages in a cheesy marinara sauce. The space also serves as a venue to host themed parties and even cupcake decoration classes!

This Muslim-owned restaurant at Esplanade Mall serves an east meets west inspired menu. Its cosy, homely setting along with its mocktail offerings makes this an ideal location for special occasion dinners with family or friends. To start, share the Curly Fries with Bacon and Cheese ($12.90). For mains, spice lovers will love the fiery, tongue-numbing Smoked Duck Lemak Chili Padi Pasta ($18.90). The spaghetti is tossed in a coconut-based gravy — a twist on the traditional Malay lemak chili curry — and served with slices of smoked duck, fresh arugula and cherry tomatoes. Finish with a slice of their In-House Specialty Cake ($10.90) that comes with a scoop of ice-cream. The cake changes daily, so check with the friendly staff on what's available. If possible, go for the crowd-favourite Ondeh Ondeh Cake. The fluffy pandan-infused sponge cake is layered with a generous spread of gula Melaka and topped with coconut flakes. Pro tip: Be warned that a glass of water here is $1, and any additional refills cost $1.

Prawns were huge, and big love for the free flow crayfish! Choose between 2 soup bases (Tom Yum & Chicken) or you could also make your own rojak here!
There's another interesting concept - Shell Out ($22 per person) dishing out huge trays of louisiana style seafood (they have it in Chili or black pepper). Prices seems really reasonable 🙌🏻 Just a heads up that drinks' prices were a little steep here.

You will see a long queue for this Chimney Cake with Soft serve. So much so that on the 1st day, they were all sold out before 8pm. Well, fret not people. You can find them at Scape.

Thin crust but still bready dough, check. Lots of truffle oil flavour, check. Egg with runny yolk, check. Yup this is my type of pizza for sure. Topped with a reasonable amount of cheese too so it doesn't overwhelm the truffle taste. Portion and price ($20 for a decent size!) is great for sharing between friend/friends. Hehe Brio somehow never disappoints. 😛

[Halal] This was taken back in November last year when I had my first experience at Royz et Vous' new outlet, located at Chai Chee.

I read on Quora about someone saying mangoes are "the best tasting candy that can grow on a tree", to which I couldn't agree more. That's also why it was an interesting addition to the traditional creme brulee. To be more specific, I adore how the custard embodied the taste of mango well. I feel that it l was a rather refreshing and welcoming contrast to the familiar vanila, milky taste. In addition, the fruits were plump, juicy and fresh, which I thought served to enhance this dessert.

The only letdown about this was how predictable it was. This only takes one look for you to know that it'd be good, if not decent. It lacked the any evocative quality or element of surprise, which made it quite boring to be honest. I've forgotten how much I paid for this, but if it was anything past $5, then to you I say that there is no compelling reason to get this in a heartbeat. (6.5/10)
