On the hunt for good cream puffs, documenting every one that I have had.

Had tried the previous release of flavours but this was one flavour that I probably hadn’t tried before — not sure if it’s actually a new item in their range of cream puffs.

Going past the crusty shell that was sufficiently moist yet crisp, the inside reveals a thick cream that carried light notes of peachiness whilst being complimented with the slight sweetness of passionfruit along with a tinge of aromatic tea flavours. Pretty decent overall.

Available as the limited edition flavour for February, the Mango Shuu looks like it’s totally ready for Chinese New Year with the yellow powder and glitter dusted atop the pastry for a shimmery look. Going past that crisp choux pastry, the cream puff comes packed with loads of Mango cream. Unlike the flavours that we have previously tried, the Mango is distinctively less creamier than the other offerings that they have; more custard-like in texture whilst carrying a brightly sweet yet lightly tart hint of mango — a rather refreshing take that is seemingly fruity that gives off that tropical dessert vibe.

Went past the stall trying to resist myself from getting another Shuu puff but ended up again with yet another one of their new creations — the Hazelnut Shuu. As usual, the crust never fails to impress being all crisp without being dry while the insides is filled with copious amounts of Hazelnut cream that is almost never-ending — absolutely love how the cream is so flowy and creamy with that adequately rich, nutty flavour. It's been a while since my last Shuu, but it's almost like seeing your crush in a long while realizing he/she hadn't changed — not even one bit, and that's a good thing for this scenario.

Chou, White Sesame Cream and Praline, Lime Coulis. Yet another one of the few new items at Patisserie G — unlike most other sesame desserts where the flavours are relatively heavy, this one came pretty balanced; the cream hints of a light, sesame aroma while encasing a rich, thick and sticky Praline within for a sweet contrast. The Lime Coulis in the Chou provides a zingy kick — refreshing but also a wee bit overwhelming and throwing the dessert pretty off balance; thought it could actually do without the lime coulis.

Spotted these at Beard Papa's latest outlet at Plaza Singapura (replaces SeoulRoll) earlier this week and already had the Vanilla version — returned to get myself the Strawberry one and I must say this is probably the more affordable version of the stellar Shuu by Koki Tamagoyaki variant. Sure, the cream may be plenty, but it doesn't quite seem as endless as Shuu's version — great for those who find Shuu's version too jelak for them. The cookie crust is crusty here (dependent on the time of order), while the puff comes filled with a good amount of fresh Strawberry cream that is more tart and zippy than sweet. The original variant that carries Vanilla cream within costs $2.80; pretty well-priced while the Strawberry and Chocolate variants come at $3.30.

Hadn't been visiting here for a while, but I also had forgotten about the Choux puff here over the years; the fancy mousse cakes seemed to have gotten my attention more ever since my second visit.

Now that there is Shuu by KOKI Tamagoyaki in existence, the choux pastry here pales in comparison; this one is significantly less crusty, but still a light and well-executed one in its own right (because it's really not fair to compare them both this way). What won me in this one though is the generous filling of Vanilla cream within; it's thick, massively speckled with vanilla beans and really rich — absolutely good on its own. All that, and the fact that the pastry also now carries caramalised nuts within for a sweet crunch; a surprise element I would have never expected inside a choux puff. Certainly high up somewhere in my Choux pastry list even if it's not in the top spot.

Went past the outlet at Central and got pretty interested with their latest limited edition flavour. Didn't disappoint as usual — really loved the lightness of the refreshing and smooth peach-flavoured cream that was pretty soothing for a dessert!

I rarely go head over heels on food like that, and I just love their Choux puffs so much that I need to grab one wherever I am in the area — so much I ended up there every two days to try my luck in getting a go at every single flavour that is on offer (but it's also because I am often in the area for some strange reason). Finally trying the last flavour they have on offer that I have yet to have a taste — again, the Choux doesn't disappoint with its crumbly yet crusty exterior that is nice in between of a cookie and Choux puff, while the insides were filled with a generous amount of aromatic and reasonably sweet Bourbon Vanilla cream. It's crazy how I have been simply dropping by for Choux or just dragging people here just to tell everyone I meet how good these are, but it's certainly something I just cannot hold back every time I pass by!

It was a tough fight with my mind when I pass by KOKI Tamagoyaki again after he first time I had decided to try their Choux Puffs from their SHUU by KOKI line — lost it the moment I confidently headed to the counter to order this coffee Choux in hopes that the staff doesn't recognize me for being there two times in three days. No matter what, I was indeed satiated by their crusty, cookie-like Choux pastry which wasn't too dry nor wet, while the coffee cream was aromatic without feeling like a sickening buttery and cloying concoction which is often the case for coffee pastries. Now I guess I am left with the Bourbon Vanilla one to order soon some day ...

From the newly opened KOKI Tamagoyaki at the basement of Raffles City Shopping Centre beside Chewy Junior. While they are known for their made-to-order Tamagoyaki with toppings when they were situated at Takashimaya as a pop-up (it's also cheaper now at Raffles City; saw the menu and found out that it starts from $9.90 onwards), they also offer Choux under their Shuu by KOKI line which carries four flavours — Matcha, Black Sesame, Bourbon Vanilla and Coffee. The exterior are cookie-like while being crusty like how a good Choux pastry is — between the two the Matcha would work well with green tea fanatics as the green tea powder gives it a very tasteful bitter aroma while the matcha cream helps balance it with it a rich yet aptly sweet flavour. My favourite of the two would be the Black Sesame however — a creamy, smooth and roasty black sesame cream within a Choux pastry with a sesame-speckled exterior that helps enhances both the texture and flavour overall. Each puffs goes for $4.30, but there is an ongoing promotion where a box of three would go for $12 — slightly pricey but worth a try!

Ending my last Friday lecture break for this semester back at Atlas Coffeehouse after realizing that their humongous Choux Puffs come in different flavours. Today's variety (this as well as a Malted Milk variant) are both pretty new; the crumbly, crusty exterior works great with the tart passionfruit filling inside. Pretty refreshing as a dessert.

There a few things I can't resist when I see them; Peranakan Kueh-Kueh, Chicken Corden Bleu and Cream Puffs are just some of the many things that I get haunted with whenever I pass by one. This mammoth of a cream puff (only just slightly smaller than its serving plate!) is one of the newest bakes at Atlas Coffeehouse; probably twice the size of the ones from NEATO although the price is almost proportionate to the size at $4.50. The Choux pastry itself is just a weenzy bit dry, but it isn't too bothersome especially with the crusty top dusted in icing sugar. Inside, the cream puff comes surprisingly filled with a good amount of Vanilla pastry cream that contains speckles of vanilla beans; a light hint of Vanilla fragrance runs through the thick cream that is simply delightful which fills up every gap within the puff. Simple, but definitely something that gets into me.
