Peony Jade at Clarke Quay is introducing a brand new Red Hot Chilli Crabbers 5 course set lunch priced at $138.80++/2 pax (minimum 2 to dine), available daily. For the crab course, you get to choose from Chilli, Black Pepper and White Pepper.
I loved the quality of crab that is used with the thick and fleshy crab meat within those sturdy shells. White pepper isnโt a usual flavor that my family would order when we dine, but I would recommend the one at Peony Jade! It is creamy, milky, peppery and what I liked was the bits of crab roe that is in the sauce too! Apart from just being peppery, I could taste the crustacean flavor which adds sweetness to it.
In conjunction with World Food Day and Pan Pacific Hotels Group's community initiative, Chefs from 5 Pan Pac Group of hotels โ Pan Pacific Singapore, Pan Pacific Orchard, PARKROYAL on Pickering, PARKROYAL on Beach Road and PARKROYAL on Kitchener will be creating dishes using ingredients from local farms. These dishes will be available from now till 15 August 2017 as part of the respective hotel's dinner buffet spread.
My favorite was the Tea Smoked Soft Yolk Egg topped with fish roes and micro herbs at Lime at Parkroyal on Pickering. One bite into it and I knew that one-half was definitely not enough!
Part of the proceeds of the buffet dinner will go to purchase food parcels for the low-income households. Get ready to Eat Well and Do Good!
The Joyden chain of restaurants launches its latest outlet, Joyden Canton, at Shaw House Orchard.
One of the newly created dishes is the Almond and Salted Egg Prawns that is easily well liked with the deep fried almond flakes on the outer layer. It's packed with a bunch of fillings within it โ whole tiger prawn, prawn paste, salted egg yolk, water chestnut, cilantro. Don't forget to dip it in the lemon & lemongrass sauce for a refreshing touch to it!

That punch of flavors is bound to have you wanting for more, which is possible since it's buffet style!

Chatterbox's Signature โ the Mandarin Chicken Rice ($27) features a local hawker favorite, but dressed up with a premium price tag. You get to choose from drumstick or breast meat and I went for the former. The chicken meat was firm yet tender without being overly greasy and is drizzled with a soy sauce. The homemade condiments (dark sauce, chilli and ginger) also tasted on point. I thought the rice was a little too dry as I prefer it to be a little greasy. Overall, the whole set wasn't oily at all and that somehow took away the shiokness of having chicken rice.
That said, my curiosity to know the taste of what is likely the most expensive chicken rice in Singapore has finally been satisfied.
Spice Brasserie brings back the crabs buffet and Executive Chef Low Hoe Kiat introduces 8 new flavors, bringing the total flavors to 12. You will definitely find something to your liking and mine was the Stir Fried Crab with Asian Spices โ dried shrimps, ginger, garlic, onion, curry leaves and chilli padi. With the myriad of ingredients used, it was extremely fragrant with a hint of spicy-ness. So finger licking good!

Having a bak kut teh can also be nutritious with sea cucumber ($17.5/$18 set meal with a small dish for a limited time only) added in it. The peppery soup base is made from hours of careful boiling with pork bones to create a comforting broth! With the sea cucumber, it took away some of the peppery notes but added a more savoury taste to it.
Lok Pot by Lucky 5 is bringing Lok Lok to the East with prices starting from $1/stick. Be spoilt for choice with the variety of ingredients โ have it either in their soup base (we had the chicken and tomato) or ask for them to be barbecued/fried! I was hooked onto the juicy barbecued mushrooms with a dash of seasoning spices. The fried option worked well with the bacon enoki roll and the beancurd skin! As for the soup, I enjoyed the sliced fish and vegetables as they soak up the flavours from the soup. Don't forget to grab the Maggie noodles too!
The condiments bar is filled with sauces such as Chilli Crab, Extra Spicy, Cincalok and Thai Green Chilli which is self served. In addition to the lok lok, I'll definitely recommend you to get the Bamboo Clams ($8 for 1 - split into 2 halves) and Oysters ($3) that are fresh and slabbed with lots of minced garlic.
Lok Pot by Lucky 5 is open daily from 5pm-2am so now you know where to solve your midnight hunger pangs!
Si Chuan Dou Hua at Parkroyal on Kitchener Road is introducing a 6 course set meal ($68/pax, $78 for 2, minimum 4 to dine) that is available for both lunch and dinner daily from now till 30 Apr 2017.
The sliced suckling pig was my favourite in our 2nd course โ Combination of Four Delicacies. The other delicacies are the chilled chicken in spicy bean paste, wasabi mushrooms and jelly fish.
The restaurant prepares a serving size to suit your party and this was for 9 of us! Do visit with a hungry stomach because there's a lot of food in the set menu and you'll definitely want to save space for their dessert buffet.
Featuring the dessert course for the new Set Menu introduced by Si Chuan Dou Hua at Parkroyal on Kitchener Road โ priced at $68/pax or $78/2pax (min 4 pax) for both lunch and dinner daily till 30 April 2017.
11 dessert items will be served in buffet style and my favorite was the Crispy Sesame Glutinous Rice Ball with the crispy shell contrasted by the chewy glutinous rice. Of course, you can't miss out on their silky smooth Homemade Beancurd with Wolfberry.
Food Republic at Vivocity welcomes 11 new tenants, one of which is Express Teppanyaki! The intense stir frying on the hot and sizzling teppanyaki right in front of my eyes gives me the comfort that my food is served piping hot.
We had the Teppanyaki Sliced Pork with Garlic and Chilli โ tender slices of pork generously drenched with that brown sauce with a kick from the chilli padi. I always ask for more sauce over the vegetables too!
Claypot sauce-y goodness in my hood that is best served with a bowl of white rice ๐
