Cafes To Visit
The Grumpy Cyclist is a bicycle-themed cafe in TTDI. From its decor to the magazines on display, this is a favourable stop for cyclists passing through the neighbourhood (they have showers for free!). They serve not only coffee, but also a variety of breakfast and lunch dishes to choose from - pancakes, big breakfast, pastas and more. Go for the Crespella (chocolate chip pancakes), or the Italian Mystery (banana pancakes with peanut butter); you won't regret it!
Peloton, retailing triathlon gear, has been opened about 2 months. But their Coffee & Juice Bar has just started operations this weekend. Stopped by for a coffee today and they make it look like they've been serving up smooth coffees for years. Cyclists are more than welcome to stop by and even refill your water bottles! #CoffeeAndCravings
all tarts go for $5 each during closing hours! we tried the saffron poached pear tart, rum & eve tart, banana chocolate silk tart
If you are the one who can't miss out on hipster cafes, Craftsmen would be the place of your choice to chill especially with its industrial theme. If the orange cups look similar, that's because they are affiliated to Dutch Colony Coffee from Pasarbella. Not really a fan of their rather light-bodied coffee but it definitely has the potential of being an uprising cafe.
The portion was quite big and I find the salad greens a little too much (they are hidden under the Rosti). Still yummy though! The smoked salmon was the highlight to me.
This made my day! It wasn't too sweet and the matcha taste wasn't too strong either. Warm and rejuvenating!
Drips Bakery Cafe (82 Tiong Poh Road, 01-05) a place that feels almost like "home" with delightful desserts and fresh bakes everyday! The shop front “We Specialise in Tarts" says it all for those tarts lovers like myself!
Wanted to check out this new kid on the block Bar Restaurant today! But it was not open for day! Platitos is good for drinks and small plate savoury! The place gives me an edgy and hip ambience!
With a consistently high standards of food at good value, it's no surprise D.O.C is packed to the brim on weekends (make reservations). Go for the buttermilk waffles if you're in the mood for something sweet, or the breakfast platter that never fails to please. Now serving dinners on Thursdays and Fridays, you can come by after work for a comforting, rustic meal. Photo by Charlene Tan
At this two-storey shophouse along Bukit Timah, bring a small group of friends and for a hearty brunch. Go for the 62 degree eggs benedict with smoked salmon ($22), and finish with the slighty odd but insanely delicious French Toast that comes with fried bananas, and is stuffed with chicken, spinach and mushrooms and finally smothered in strawberry-smoked maple syrup. Loving Japanese and Italian food! Coffee and tea make me sane. :)
