I mistakenly thought the strong brew was from Vietnam; it's Thai!
The milk coffee comes with brown sugar, which melds beautifully. You can also request less, or go the no-sugar route, which I did. *Pictured is one the barista wrongly made with brown sugar before redoing a sugarless one.
This went better with plain yogurt than its muted Gula Melaka sibling; I quite enjoyed the chocolaty flavour and roselle which stood out, and I could discern bits of almond.
However I still think it's muesli, not granola.
Here's the fourth or fifth local one I've tried, and it's the Coconut Gula Melaka granola by #theediblecompany.
This is one for healthy people who want little sugar and little oil in their foods. There is little hint of gula melaka (I shook the bag and dug at the bottom thinking the sugar may have settled) and the flavour is really mild, getting overwhelmed mixed with unsweetened greek yogurt.
It reminds me more of lightly toasted muesli. That's not a bad thing, it would have been a treat when I was in my no-sugar, no-fat, no-salt phase.
Can't wait to try the other flavours I bought :) #sggranolareview
Yummy poached eggs and mushrooms 💜
And featuring two tiny plants from Gardeners' Day Out at Hort Park today! They eat ants :) awesome natural pest control
The service is pretty bad (ask for bread on the side and it comes on the same plate, someone asked for his coffee thrice) and the food is mediocre.
Love the food here, especially the salmon dip, which is very moreish.
Here's an Yusheng Granola I found online way after CNY. The red strips are carrot and the granola contains other interesting bits such as five-spice powder. I like the attempt at CNY oats :) but maybe a spoonful is enough.
This here is Nitro Black Matter ($7), cold brew coffee passed through nitrogen and poured from a tap like Guinness.
The folks at Chye Seng Huat were nice enough to offer a taster shot, which was intriguing enough to make me want a cup. But the bubbles fizzled and the black matter lost its coolness and I could barely bring myself to finish even half of it.
Best gulped down while fresh from the tap.
Crop Bakery's Granola with Apricots and Cacao Nibs ($9 for 200g) is light yet crisp and sweet enough to hold its own against natural unsweetened yogurt.
I don't see much apricot or cacao nibs, otherwise it's quite a delicious breakfast. Look forward to trying the second flavour I bought.
Not bad, but not filling. My granola/muesli hunt continues :)
