Kim's Fried Oysters is my standard bearer when it comes to a good orh luat. If I have to use one word to describe their orh luat, it is consistency.

Their fried egg bits are consistently crispy and the batter consistently gooey and savoury. Their Korean oysters are also consistently fresh and huge. And the dish itself is also consistently on the oily side (best eaten fresh instead of takeaway tbh!).

The end-product is consistently good and it's a shame to be honest to hear that the elderly couple is going to give up their pan and spatula next year!

Finally took the trouble to try this much vaunted Fried Oyster Omelette stall in Jalan Besar. But at the end, I am not sure what the hype about this store was all about.

First contact was a let down for me cause lady owner said I arrived too early (6pm per their listed opening hours) and that she will only start serving at 6.10pm. Can I place order first? No! Because she cannot remember. Later I saw she uses a write down system to remember the orders. So she could have taken my order but chose not to. Fine. I came back in 10 mins to place my order. Within minutes I got my order.

My $8 oyster omelette came all chopped up and with many bits literally badly burnt and charred, tasting bitter. I like crispy oyster omelette but not burnt. We got about 8 mid sized oysters which was nice and the chilli was also on point, more tangy than spicy.

I doubt if I will ever learn to appreciate this type of oyster omelette so I’ll stick to my usual stalls.

It costed just $5 and there was oyster and eggs. It was tasty but very oily. A creative snack.

Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️

Still my fav for fried oyster, it’s tasty, gooey and slightly wet and the oyster quite plump, served with tangy and slightly spicy chilli.

📍Lim’s Fried Oyster.
166 Jalan Besar #01-32.
Berseh Food Centre.

One of the best fried oyster I had, Lim's Fried oyster is so good, u don't have to dip it into the chilli.

The fried oyster was actually already fried with chilli in it, so the egg was crisp & spicy.

The oysters were good, it wasn't stale but u can't say its as fresh as those raw ones u eat at restaurants.

It's so good, I da pao 1 packet back for the Mrs.

Have had this for years and it doesn't disappoint. Oysters are fresh and plump, egg crispy as always.
