More Reviews of good food at La Petite Cuisine (Bukit Timah)

La Petite Cuisine has rebranded to La Petite French Bistro. The food doesn't taste as good as when we had it a few years ago unfortunately, wouldnt really consider it value for money any longer. Rice was overcooked and mushy, taste of the tuna seasoning was also too strong on the smokey chilli oil. The creme brulee we ordered in the set meal was also unfortunately one of the worst i've ever had. Would sadly no longer recommend this.

My husband and I visited La Petite on 20th Sep 19 around 19.20. We ordered our food (lobster bisque and 2 weekend sets) at 19.29pm using GrabPay.

At 20.00, our food was still not here. Looking around, we realised tables that came after us were already having their food, and were almost finishing. In the half hour we waited, not a single server came to ask after us, or even to refill our water.

My husband then approached the counter to check on the food. Turns out, they had lost our order. They apologized and assured us they would allow us to "jump queue". Yes, after waiting half hour for our food, we are now jumping the queue.

Again, we waited another 15 minutes. 3 more tables had their food served. I decided to approach the counter to check on the order again. Yes, the order was lost, and it would take some time for the mains to be ready, but for the soup and the appetizers to be delayed again, it was simply unacceptable. To note, at this point, one of the tables who arrived after us had already finished their meal and left.

Finally, when our food had arrived, we thought this was the end of it. But boy were we wrong. I was still waiting for my main (duck confit) when my husband had already finished his main (steak). Once again, my husband went to the counter, and we found out that the server had taken my duck confit and served it to another table, and actually marked it off our order. Again, they issued another apology to appease us. We could not even cancel the order as we had already paid for the meal.

It was meant to be a relaxing evening, but it ended up as one that was filled with frustration and hunger. What a Friday evening.

I stress that this was not an isolated incident as there was another couple who was in the exact same predicament. When we left, they were still having their mains.

Tldr; Go if you enjoy terrible service and having to remind your server every 15 minutes about your food. And waiting of course, for food that would never arrive.

The duck meat is tender and good but I’ve had better elsewhere at that price. The creamy potato gratin on the side was really good though...

Soooo good by itself. By far one of the best croissants I’ve had in Singapore! The crust layers are just right (not soggy or too chewy) and it was fresh from the oven (: je l’aime ~

Juicy escargots in a herb and tomato sauce, only wished that the sauce wouldn’t drench the croissant too much! loved the juicy escargots nevertheless!

Had their set lunch at $20, ordered filet of chicken with butter rice. Their white sauce is not too heavy.
Like it as it wasn’t too salty as well.
Love their dessert too.

The food is like what you get in the cafeteria of a supermarket in France: no unusual dish; decent quality, but nothing memorable; basic and standard accompaniments to almost all dishes (rice, spaghetti). In the same spirit as the supermarkets: Spartan décor; order and pay upfront at the cashier's; reasonable pricing (except for wine). This used to be THE place where to get cheap French food in Singapore. It has since been surpassed on all fronts by the Saveur chain, which has similar pricing, but offers more convenient locations, service, and most importantly, more diverse and better-quality good.

Had been wanting to come here for a long time, with many reviews raving about how the duck confit ($22) is good and affordable. So it was no brainer for me as to what to order. Duck confit was crispy on the outer layer and tender in the inner layer, going well with the sauce. Hmmm, saveur is still more affordable though (and you get mushrooms there too?). But, the potato gratin here was good and was of a much bigger portion! The cheese wasn't overwhelming (perhaps because it was served hot and everything was still gooey and fragrant), but the cheese in the crabmeat pasta ($19) was (*holds up nose*)! And I would have preferred the pasta to be in chilli crab sauce than tomato sauce. There are better chilli crab pastas around. So, just stick to the duck confit for this place #burpple #burpplesg #lapetitecuisine #hsbcentertainersg #entertainersg

It's been so long since I last came here. I remember I came here for evening dates while donning my white and blue uniform. The tuna loin was carefully seared leaving a tinge of pink in the middle. The flavors were amazing- especially how well the meat, seasoning, parsley went together. This place screams value for money!

Used to frequent the outlet at Thomson Road before they closed, so I was happy to be at the Serene Centre outlet on a fine Friday.
Pictured is goat cheese that is not for the faint hearted but those who love strong, savory cheese. 2 slabs on perfectly butter soft roll and a hearty portion of greens that helps balance out the rich entree.

Excellent dish!!! The seasoning was perfect and each element was cooked to perfection. The salmon skin was crispy and the flesh still juicy and flakes easily. The gravy had a balanced tartness to creaminess and the baby spinach was tender. My favourite was the buttered rice which just made me going for more.

Must try!!! (preferred this to the duck confit though the duck was nice too)

The skin was crisp and the meat tender. Potato gratin was quite creamy. Maybe I expected too much so the dish was just delicious rather than phenomenal. Very reasonable price though!!

Affordable quality western cuisine in a hidden gem tucked away in a quiet corner of Serene Center. My main ($17) had a generous portions of well-seared tuna served with a side of fragrant butter rice and sautéed asparagus. Also ordered an appetiser of olive-oiled salmon slices on a bed of baby spinach ($14). And all meals are served with warm bread rolls and butter. Lovely ambience, hospitable customer service and great food! One of my favourite places ❤️

Think again. I thought this will taste just normal. I tried the duck and the sirloin steak. Both are beautifully done. The sauce are superb!! Simple yet dancing in my mouth. I'm going to try all their menu!

Find accidentally because I was looking for Island Creamery next door. Love the sauce which have the balsamic flavour. The confit is beautifully done with the crisp skin. The place is not your super elegant style but I can assure you the food are superb!

Our personal favourite is the croissant with escargot and salad, but pictured was the fillet salmon with baby spinach and butter rice, which is equally mouth-watering. Their dishes sound so simple yet are executed so well and friendly-priced without robbing your bank account.

I was expecting a plate of dry, garlicky and buttery (or oily) escargots like a typical escargot dish as an entrée. Yet, what came to me was a totally different rendition of escargot. Unpretentious, delectable and one-of-a-kind. While the croissant is soaking in the strong flavourful tomato-ey sauce, the escargot itself is juicy and sweet. Simply irresistible.

Located just a short stroll away from Botanic Garden MRT. Read many reviews saying service is bad, but I think the more appropriate description would be that the staff are brazen. The salmon stuffed macaroni was largely unimpressive, with somewhat stale and dry bits of salmon in the macaroni. However the tangy milky sauce was the saving grace. Duck confit was good, fork tender meat and perfectly crisped skin. With velvety chunks of potato, topped with a balanced sourish and sweet sauce.

A very nice and simple restaurant with friendly waiter and waitress, and the food came in less than 5 minutes! They even asked us how was the food and etc. A pity that their main chef wasn't here today. He chit-chat with us when we first came! If you're expecting a $12-$18 dish, this is definitely worth the try. Spag with Ham and cream (aka carbonara) was not only very delicious, it was affordable too!

A must to come again!
