Decent portion and taste was good too. Will come
Kway chap isnāt commonly a dish thatās eaten at supper. But this stall at Bishan does a version good for night owls. It opens from 8.30pm in the evening all the way to 4am the following morning. In fact queues start to form at 8pm and this continues through the evening.
We ordered kway ($1 each) and it was smooth and silky, but didnāt had a lasting impression of the broth. For $16 (for four), there was braised belly pork, small intestine, large intestine, pig skin, fish cake, tau kwa, tau pok and boiled egg. The innards here were cleaned thoroughly and doesnāt have a bitter, gamey smell - the most important factor in determining if itās a good rendition. Chilli sauce here is worth a mention where itās sourish spicy. The type of sauce that complements the braised delights well.
I would say this is a decent bowl of kway chap for those who want to fulfil their late night cravings.
Grew up eating this and its chaipo (fried radish) fragrance is simply irresistable. Now this is part of my bi/weekly sunday brunch. (4 for $1, 6 for $1.50)
Very rich in taste, meat is soft and soaked in the curry. Comes with a lot of ladies fingers, brinjals and cabbage!
Tried this placeās Signature Noodles ($5) and the soup was pretty good! It had a mild fish taste (but not fishy) and was really light. There were lots of ingredients inside, including a meatball, fried fishball, pork slices, meat chunks, dumpling, seaweed, egg, and wolf berries. I really liked the mushrooms in the noodles too surprisingly. Sadly, the noodles in this dish wasnāt my favourite, because their mee kia is on the thicker and flatter side, and the noodles could have been harder. Still worth a visit to this coffee shop though, because there were many yummy places here and itās a large space! (Originally wanted to try the kueh chap here, but it only opens from 8.30pm to 4am since itās a supper spot, so next time I guess.)
$5 per plate of fluffy rice with roasted belly pork and roasted duck.
Tender meat texture and crispy pork skin.
Smokey duck skin. Good taste indeed.
