What is breakfast without CTK.

Decided to give this a try. The black carrot cake was quite good. I would suggest skipping the white carrot cake thou.

One thing interesting about their carrot cake would be the size for each of them, as they are consider a bigger one; comparing with those in other places.

I believe the cooking method wasn’t good enough as I tasted some burned pieces. The fried egg wasn’t even able to blend in the taste unfortunately.

It was cooked by the uncle. As I know some people said the auntie would cooke it better. $3

Kampong Carrot Cake ($3)
.
One of my favourite breakfast treats since my childhood days living near Tiong Bahru Market is this kampong style carrot cake. The largest difference between this and most other carrot cake stalls is how the radish cake pieces are cut larger and not diced up during the frying process. Also, the egg isn’t scrambled before pouring over the radish cake and remains as separate pieces from the cake. I love it fried really dark with extra sweet sauce!

One of my favourite dishes of the night - the Beef Cheek Pappardelle (S$28++).

The beef cheeks have been braised in Chianti wine for approximately six hours which resulted in huge but tender chunks of melt-in-your-mouth goodness. This dish can get a bit heavy due to the intensity of the sauce, meat and pasta so it would be good to pair it with a nice red, a cocktail or two?

Thank you to Roosevelt's Diner & Bar for the scrumptious dinner and @burpple for the invite!

Not many stores serve carrot cake with banana leaf nowadays, and Kampong Carrot Cake still does. There are a few stores selling carrot cake at Tiong Bahru Market Food Centre, and this is the store I prefer. The black carrot cake is the more popular version but I prefer the white one because of the simple unsweetened fragrant tastiness of radish that is not covered by dark soy sauce. 😘

Prices are at $3/$4/$5 a plate (mix is only available for the $5 portion). The Black Carrot Cake ($3) here comes in huge chunks and is sweet but unfortunately it is not crisp, which was compensated by the more-softer-than-others texture of the carrot cake.
