JY Lam Eating House (Vision Exchange)

Although this stall sells mee hoon kway that is hand torn and comes with sayur manis, it does not quite make the cut to the list of top ban mian stalls. The soup is ordinary, ikan bilis pathetically few and serving portion is small. The mee hoon kway itself was chewy and tastes like homemade kway. It was also very bland and as the soup was also not salty and with the few ikan bilis added, the bowl of mee hoon kway came across as rather flavourless. And yet there was no chilli sauce, just cut red chilli.

The egg was added towards the end or even just pour over with the mee hoon kway and soup just before serving did nothing to accentuate the flavour, as it was a tad too raw. The minced meat was good, especially if you dip it into the cut chilli sauce.

Looking at the logo, I realised this is the Lam Noodles brand. Thank you but I’ll stick to their minced meat noodles and salt baked chicken.

Stumbled upon this gem of a mee hoon kway spot that’s just a short walk from Jurong East MRT! It’s accessible via the bridge on the back, tucked in Vision Exchange. It’s more pricey a bowl at $6 for the dry version without the big meatball you see here, though it did have quite a bit of topping and includes an egg in the side soup. The soup version is at $5. They do have the other noodle options too, like ban mian and you mian.

Didn’t have this with their homemade chilli as my throat was a little sore then, but I tried a little of it and it was quite fiery! Some of the mhk pieces were a tinyyy bit doughy but they were really impressive in general. They were done just the way we like our mhk to be, with a great chew and just the right thickness! Comes with minced meat, crunchy ikan bilis, meatballs, crab stick and my favourite mani chye. Would definitely have this again if I’m in the area.
