Discovered a new tze char gem place to visit!

Was searching for affordable and nice tze char in the Geylang Area and chanced upon JB Garden Seafood Restaurant with raving reviews! Many made comparison to JB Ah Meng (which is just a a few mins down the street) and said this was as nice and way cheaper!

Brought the family out here to try the food!

Here is what we ordered:
-San Lou Bee Hoon ($10.50 for Medium)
-Herbal Paper Wrapped Chicken (1 whole chicken for $28)
-Hot Plate Beancurd ($12 for Small)
-Curry Fish Head ($28)
-Prawn & Pork Omelette ($8 for Small)
-Coffee Pork Ribs ($12 for Small)
-Sambal Sweet Potato Leave ($10 for Small
-Drinks ($2-3+)

The star of the show is clearly the San Lou Bee Hoon! It was not overly chaotah! Much wok hei taste. Tastes even better with the sambal chilli sauce dip! The herbal chicken was also tender, with sufficient herbal soup for drizzling on rice. Sizzling hotplate beancurd was also my other top favourite! Super flavourful black sauce with minced meat and soft tofu! Curry Fish Head portions and ingredients felt slightly little for the pricing though. The coffee pork rib was one of the worst item ordered imo though. The sauce was the watery kind, and the sauce tasted way too bitter. Other places serve better coffee pork ribs.

Come here for the San Lou Bee Hoon especially! Skip the coffee pork ribs for sure!

Will be back again, as it is affordable! No GST and No service Charge here! For 6 adults, the bill amounted to $120 only!

with no service charge, gst and long snaking queues, this place is definitely the ideal choice for dining on a public holiday or weekend where shopping malls are usually flooded. you can get dishes for around $10 each and even for my family (we eat a lot!), it usually totals up to $15 per pax at the maximum. this place does deliveries too and the service is pretty popular. some of my favourite dishes are: beef hor fun (one of the best wokhei), green beans with minced pork, fish soup (free flow soup, refillable) and chrysanthemum tea (refillable). definitely a must go, only down side being it’s not really accessible by mrt or bus so it’ll only be convenient if you drive. #sgfood #burpple #chinesefood

Yummy & light. Perfect to go with the heavy flavoured Hokkien Mee we had.

Generous chunks of crab meat & fluffy egg white in thick broth over fried beancurd. So glad we ordered this! Now... the only thing is I'm a westie who happened to be in this end of the island for that day 😐

Wok hei was definitely evident and this is the real deal! What's even better for me is that the "ki" taste isn't strong in this dish.

We judged most of them by their look and number of customers inside. By these requirements, you will never step into this restaurant.
During our visit, the restaurant was almost empty but their phone kept ringing. Takeaways and delivery made up most of their business. Good comfort Zi char dishes which most of us will overlooked.

Esp their Claypot tofu. They remade the tofu then fried till golden brown. Mixed in the minced meat, mushroom with some oyster sauce for the gravy. Everything from the sauce to the tofu was filled with wok hei. Just by that dish, I will give them 5 stars for taste.

Took my parents to this casual eatery for dinner and they had only good things to say about the food. Here's what we ordered...
1) Spinach with Century Egg and Salted Egg (small: $8) - Tasty without being too salty which I think could be attributed to there being more of the former than latter in terms of preserved eggs.
2) Four Vegetable Stirfried in Sambal (small: $8) - Loved the "hae bee"-rich sambal and the fact that the Brinjal wasn't saturated in oil while the French beans, petai and ladyfingers were still crunchy.
3) Marmite Chicken (small: $10) - Sticky and caramelly sweet chicken pieces with the fried skin retaining a yummy crunch. Got to watch out for bones though.
4) Steamed 红斑鱼 (market price: $25). Modest in sized but fantastically fresh, it was steamed Hongkong style with soya sauce and topped with fried strips of ginger strips and fresh coriander.
5) Not pictured, the Pork Collar Meat with Garlic (small: $10) - Thinly sliced boiled fatty pork came garnished with crunchy golden garlic bits, coriander and a light soya sauce. Stunningly simple yet simply stunning. My favourite dish amongst all that we had.

I know this place got my parents' stamp of approval because they grabbed a few of the restaurant's namecards. A sure sign they'll be returning soon with their friends 😄
