These insanely thick-cut slabs (or chunks, for that matter) will set you back for $16 a plate, but the rich fattiness and melt-in-the-mouth texture of the fresh salmon slices was to die for! The sweet mirin/soy sauce marinate makes it even more decadent though it can get quite surfeiting due to the thickness, so it's best shared with your friends!⁣

The Chicken Katsu Curry is also decent with a crispy chicken cutlet and robust curry sauce, though a larger portion & more veggies other than the sad carrot smidgens would have made the dish even better.

Can't go wrong with their Salmon Mentaiko Don either! The salmon slices were well seared on the outside while slightly raw on the underside, and the smoky char on the mentaiko sauce elevated the umami flavours.

$16 for 5 slices of very thick and fresh sashimi! Also ordered the curry chicken katsu, oyakodon, chicken katsu don and the giant chawanmushi. The chicken was very generous and not a lot of skin. It was really affordable and yummy. 😋 Would definitely recommend and go back again! :)

Decided to pop by after seeing so many Tiktoks about this. Could see that the price increased by alot but I guess that's to be expected. Had the Mental Don ($12 for small) and the Salmon Sashimi ($16 for 5 pcs). The Don, while good taste-wise, will be quite lacking for a big eater. The salmon sashimi was as thick as what's shown in the toks, but I don't think it's worth the queue and price (and definitely DON'T try to eat the entire disH by yourself, it was too much by the 3rd pc). Might come back to try the makis, but I think I could get better quality at about the same price elsewhere. Also, THEY ONLY ACCEPT CASH.

A meal at Japanese Curry Express usually revolves around their insanely thick and fresh salmon sashimi, one (or more) of their avocado / mango makis and their salmon mentaiko don.

We decided to be a little more adventurous recently and splurge a little to try their unagi Maki which costs $18.

Sushi rice and a nice thick piece of grilled unagi is topped with shredded crabstick, ebiko and of course, mayonnaise. It is sinfully rich, bold and delicious.
