Pleasantly surprised by the freshness of the salmon sashimi slices in this salmon sashimi don. Salmon sashimi slices were of the right thickness for the don, and had a nice sweetness to it. The rice and sashimi combination was served with chilli padi and a dash of sesame oil, which I thought was pretty odd for a Japanese restaurant but I somehow appreciated the hint of spice within and the added layer of flavour the sesame oil gave. Personally, I thought that the portion size, freshness and restaurant sizing made this relatively affordable. They even have miso soup as an included side! Would recommend this if you’re craving a salmon sashimi don.

There were little chunks of raw salmon, tuna and white fish on top of the lightly tangy rice. There is also a scattering of salmon roe and cucumber which added some texture to the bite.

The fish is marinated in shoyu, which is supposed to impart umami. Less Japanese soya sauce would be preferable to better appreciate the flavour of the fish.

The ratio of fish to rice was less than satisfying although as far as convenient chirashi bowls go, this is pretty good.

Being a common delicacy in Japanese cuisine, I’ve always thought that freshwater EELs are available all year round but I’ve now come to learn that it is often eaten during the hot summers in Japan! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 It is hence of no wonder that new on Ichiban Boshi’s Natsu (Summer) menu is Unagi Seiromushi ($18.90++). 😍
.
Featuring steamed teriyaki sushi rice with BBQ eel 🤤🤤🤤, a pot of hot water continues keep the rice steaming warm in the wooden box atop 🔥, bringing with it some traditional vibes.
.
Accompanied by crunchy cubes of fresh prawn 🦐, aromatic eggs 🍳, vibrant cherry tomatoes 🍅, some Japanese greens 🥬 & a sprinkle of fragrant sesame seeds, this was a worthy upgrade of their usual unagi don (which I’ve always liked). 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
.
Served with a side of miso soup, this ought to remain on @shokutsuten’s menu for a longer time!💯

Fish gozen with vegetables, tanghoon and tofu in it.. was flavourful even without the chilli padi and garlic that you are supposed to eat with.

Udon portion is big and I didn't finish.

Chawanmushi was smooth and tasty. Best thing!

Comes also with mandarin orange salad and sushi with mushrooms and fish roe.

$24.90++ for the entire set.

Ordered two sets and two sides. Never had I ever had such tasteless rice (I could only taste the kimchi) lol and the scallops also tasteless? However the cereal chicken karage is good and my friend enjoyed her soup. I won’t come back again because not worth it.
