At 1pm, I still has to queue 40 mins for this bowl of dry beef noodles with beef balls ($5.50). Very generous with the sliced beef and you get two beef balls. Their braised sauce was viscous and just savoury enough especially if you pair it with their chilli sauce. The beef was thinly sliced and not over cooked. Beef balls were a bit of a disappointment. Felt like chewing through a ball of dough. The beef broth was nice with a strong taste of beef from blanching so much meat every day.

Very close to what I remembered of the old Odeon Beef Noodles. I have to say this is one of the best in Singapore today, which explains the queue.

Hailing from a beloved but now defunct beef noodle stall opposite the old Odeon theatre in the 1970s, you're assured of a good quality bowl here, made with an authentic family receipe that hasn't changed.
.
They're known for 2 things. The 1st, a robust Chinese Hainanese gravy, a thick and unctious sauce mixed with beef stock, superior soy sauce, then thickened with potato starch. Paired with lime juice, chinchaclok (fermented shrimp with salt and white vinegar), and chilli. The result is a big meaty savoury sweet salty tangy sour spicy burst of flavour.
.
The 2nd is the generous cuts of perfectly cooked beef parts - springy beef meat balls, spongy beef tripe, tender medium-rare beef slices, and crunchy beansprouts, alongside silky smooth thick bee hoon / rice vermicelli noodles. Lovely meaty vegetal sweet savoury flavours.
.
The stall only opens for a limited 4-days per week, and for only 5 hours each time. Needless to say, go early, and prepare to queue for up to 40 minutes.

Soon to be extinct. Endless queues. Beautifully crafted. A work of culinary art

This is the best beef noodles I had in Singapore❤️ Toa Payoh Hwa Heng Beef Noodle is actually located in Bendemeer Market and Food Centre (#01-01) and the dry mixed beef noodles with beef tendons ($5) is the bomb. The gravy is robust and flavourful and the amount of beef, beef balls, innards and tendons given is super generous for the price point. The beef tendons literally melt in your mouth because they are that soft! There is really nothing to nitpick for this delicious bowl of goodness, except for the fact that you probably need to queue for at least 30min during lunch hours🤪

Bowl of thick beehoon with generous of ingredient and light broth of beef soup.
The beef and tendon are tender but the meatball don’t have the chewy texture.
💰$6 (top up $1 for extra “Liao”).
