The only braised pork rice that I can like to eat. The meat is so juicy and the combination is no boring and no greasy.
Price : SGD5.50

I gave this eatery another shot. The operator was still grouchy like last time. The Japanese curry was run-of-the-mill stuff, but kudos to the braised pork, which was on the brink of matching those in Taiwan already, which is to say it had significant oiliness and saltiness.

Amazing daily soups in an unexpected stall that does Taiwanese food like Taiwan braised pork rice .

Soup was non greasy , full of that natural Chinese herb flavour and a huge drumstick.

Go for the soup and mini braised rice set at 5.50 - really value for money . The soups are on a rotational basis .

My kind of food .

Three Pork Bento 三猪便當(S$7)
Topup S$1 for winter melon tea as soup was only available from 12pm onwards.
Available at @heilunshitang
Love the moist pearly japonica rice. Very tender flavourful braised minced pork, stewed pork belly and braised pork. Like that it’s not too salty too. Served with carrot, cabbage, shiitake mushroom, preserved mustard, and braised egg.

One thing to note is that while Singaporeans are used to bowls with loads of meat with less rice; the reverse seems to apply to many Lu Rou Fan stalls in Taiwan where there is very little meat in contrast to rice.

While most places claim to be “authentic”, every store really presents quite a different take.
Here are 10 places you can head to in Singapore for your Lu Rou Fan cravings:

This is the set with everything - lu rou, pork chop (a tiny cut), pork belly, fried chicken and braised chicken. Unfortunately only the bento box was authentic. Also served with egg, cabbage, salted veg, carrot and (one) shiitake mushroom. $8 price is okay for the variety but not the quality.
