Wow … amazingly ordinary and tasteless - total waste of time and calories. Tasteless and gluggy. If you’ve been to Korea and had decent Korean food … this isn’t it. They’ve obviously flooded google with paid reviews because this definitely isn’t 4-5 star material. Disappointed.

Once of the best restaurant deals is having Eatigo's 50% off during lunch/dinner timings, so thank you once again for saving my wallet 😆

Half the menu is filled with Korean dishes, while the other half is Chinese/tzichar-style dishes. My friends and I ordered the pork belly (amount of one portion as pictured, $22), beef bulgolgi ($25), kimchi fried rice (pictured, $13.80) and cucumber with beancurd strips salad ($10). Of the lot, I enjoyed the kimchi fried rice and BBQ beef bulgolgi, but they weren't exceptionally fantastic because the fried rice was a little cold and the beef wasn't very flavourful. The pork belly was given in thick cuts, thus it's great for people who love the fats but on hindsight they were tough to chew. The salad was appetising, but the portion was too huge for even 3 people to finish (don't say I've never warn you, it was really a freaking mountain).

Not an impressive restaurant, wouldn't return again.

Sorry I am not even be bothered to separate the dishes into multiple posts. It's just not worth my time.

Army stew was small and bland [$39], seafood pancake [$22] was small with thin slices fishcake. Extremely disappointed. With additional charges it cost us $65 for 2 pax.

Very upsetting that I wasted my money and calories!

Gum Gang Won is a quaint and intimate family restaurant that purports to serve authentic Korean cuisine. Unlike its advertised image, the food presented more as a fusion, with subtle Chinese undertones. Yet, as the whole, the many dishes were largely flavorful and left my company of 4 extremely satisfied.

For Korean BBQ, we ordered the beef short ribs and beef bulgogi. Though the serving size was rather small (approx. 100g), the slices of beef short rib were fatty and flavorful...and when coupled with the specialty sauce plus wrapped in a lettuce leaf, it sure brought me back to my travels in Korea! The beef bulgogi was tasty, but unspectacular.
Next, we had jap chae, seafood pancake and long beans with pork belly! The seafood pancake was slightly lacking in its seafood filling, but the other two dishes more than made up for it!

The service is fantastic; hats off especially to the middle-aged waitress (whom I would like to believe is related to the owner in some way). Upon seeing that the spread we ordered lacked drinks, she took it upon herself to provide us with complimentary barley tea. Furthermore, despite running back and forth between tables, she ensured that our side dishes were always refilled and our beef well cooked!

My only gripe would be that servers are fairly pushy when promoting certain dishes, and that no complimentary water is provided. But such is the norm when it comes to the cutthroat industry of Korean F&B in Singapore. Would definitely recommend this place to small groups that enjoy chilling with the familiar taste of home-cooked Korean food!

Authentic korean army stew. Brought groupon and went to try out. The army stew was so so. Would prefer the Seoul Yummy version. Added seafood pancake but find that it is not worth the $22. Not much seafood inside the pancake. Side dishes refillable but I don like their kim chi. Disappointed. Will not go back again.

Army stew $38.80 which is more than enough for the 3 of us. 👻 #gumgangwon
