Reviews at Good Year Local Hainanese Chicken Rice Ball (Toa Payoh)

Reviews of good food at Good Year Local Hainanese Chicken Rice Ball (Toa Payoh)

It's been a long time since I've had Chicken Rice Balls but they've always been a classic gem in my mind. Sought after because of how rare it is nowadays. I must admit I perhaps don't know how to appreciate this. The rice is fragrant and delicious, but because it's packed together like this, it becomes almost like glutinous chicken rice, and I think I prefer the texture of regular rice over this. The chicken is good as well but I'm a lazy Singaporean and I appreciate boneless chicken more 😅. The soup is really good if you like chicken feet and peanut soup. And it must be noted that you'll rarely find a chicken rice store serving chicken feet soup. This whole tray which is enough for two cost $12.

I wonder why all these stalls are so near my home. 😏😏 anyways, I ordered steamed white chicken drum stick and it comes with a soup. The balls are however too mushy for my likings. I also used New ways to edit this photo in photoshop. Let me know if it's better than my past photo. 😂 🙆🏻‍♂️🙆🏻‍♂️

For $4, you will get boneless chicken meats, 2 rice balls and what surprised me was their soup, which comes with peanuts and chicken leg!

The very few places in Sg where u get chicken rice balls. As a fan of chicken rice I was thrilled to check this out! Ordered the roasted chicken and it was tender n juicy. The right amount of oiliness. And the chili is v gd too. Very satisfying. The chicken rice balls were however a little let down. It was kind of too dense for our liking. But we will still go back for e chicken and have our rice the conventional way.

How rare these days to be able to find Hainanese Chicken Riceballs to pair with juicy succulent roast chicken.

Was intrigued to try this chicken rice because of the cool looking rice balls, but it turned out to be more hype than anything else; the rice balls were basically chicken rice put under pressure and left in the open after as it was served lukewarm. The chicken was not bad, a little dry but it was nice flavour from the sauce. The normal chicken rice was fragrant and was probably the best part of the meal. Not too bad a place, and its just next to Braddell MRT, but probably not worth making the trip down unless you stay nearby.

Heartiness (portion): 4/5
Tastiness (product): 3/5
Worthiness (price): 3/5
