More Reviews of good food at Ghim Moh Market & Food Centre

One do the only few stalls to open during dinner time.

Western Delights serves up some old school style western food, with shoestring fries, fried bun & baked beans.

Chicken Chop was tender and slightly charred(in a good way)

Fried rice was rather normal.

Can also have this with fried rice as well.

Awesome Cantonese siew yoke [a.k.a. roast pork] to kickstart my Sunday morning! 🌞

Beneath the prized crispy, shattering skin is a good layer of moreish fats that melt-in-your-mouth and tender meat with the right amount of saltiness. 🫶🏻

De Ji has a few outlets around SG, and their signature dish, is definitely their Soya Sauce Chicken.

Their Chicken is so tender, the meat really slides off from each bite.

Their Noodles also good, el dente.

Lastly, price is affordable as well, $10 for half a chicken.

My folks are unable to eat out this Father’s day. Nonetheless, I’m elated to bring home some of these scrumptious sio bak [a.k.a. roast pork] from our favourite [and much underrated] Cantonese roast meat stall at Ghim Moh food centre.

The extra crunchy, crackling skin with a good amount of saltiness on the slightly lean but tender meat is so awesome! 🤩

Among the few fish soup stalls in Ghim Moh, I believe this shines about the rest. With quite a robust fish broth that is also flavoured by the fried egg bits, Hong Sheng Fish Soup's double fish soup ($6) definitely is a comforting meal. Though the fried fish slices were really thick, I wished that the sliced fish slices given were a little bigger. All fish slices were fresh nonetheless! Get their chili sauce mixed with fermented bean sauce for extra spicy umami kick!

It’s hard [for me] to resist dessert after meals.

Ordered a bowl of ice bubur cha cha from this popular dessert stall at Ghim Moh food centre that has all these gems — coconut 🥥 milk, sweet potato, yam and colourful tapioca cubes hidden under a mountain of finely shaved ice. 🫶🏻

We were really lucky to get our hands on the last serving of their fried carrot cake before the lights💡 were off.

The black version is sweet, savoury and thoroughly fried with lots of charred bits while the white version is on the milder side with less crisp. Black win hands down! 🏆

4nett portion avail as well

The char siew was somewhat tough but it's ok cos it's cut into small pieces. Noodles and sauce were not too bad, quite light overall. Wantons were nice tho, it's got a very familiar meatiness, like the shanghainese kind

Overall not too bad, get the slightly bigger one

Forget about potential health risks!

Get this to-die-for sio bak [a.k.a. roast pork] — crunchy, crackling skin with the desired fat-to-meat ratio and incredibly salty lean meat.

And yes! The soft pork fat boasts a melt-in-your-mouth texture. 😋

One of my fav place for Mee Siam as the gravy has a good balance of sweet and assam sour taste, goes so well with their homemade chilli. So, comforting.

Saw so many positive reviews of Jiu Jiang Shao La (九江燒臘), since already in the queue for so long, must well order a plate of Roast Duck, Char Siew and Roast Pork ($8.00) to try what’s so special about them. Hmmm, their roast duck is so salty (especially the skin), the char siew is quite dry, roast pork still not bad with a crispy skin. Not really my type that I will go back again.

Ghim Moh Nasi Lemak offer a variety of sides to go along with nasi lemak or fried bee hoon. Didn't order their nasi lemak but char beehoon instead. Not wow but not too bad for breakfast.

Chanced upon this western food stall that seems promising and indeed they serve up real old school western food!

I had the chicken cutlet ($6.50) which came with a sizable portion of fried chicken that isn't too greasy. The chicken within is lightly seasoned and pretty tender and succulent! Wished they had a certain sauce to dip but chilli will do. The chicken came with a variety of ingredients like baked beans, fried bun, fries and coleslaw which were okay. This does remind me of my childhood!

I would say this is not bad of an old school western food, though nothing to shout out, this can still be a viable option if you are in the area!

This hokkien mee is of a wet version, and it has a relatively flavourful broth (that is abit too salty) and the noodles are not mushy at all. There is a good amount of ingredients including fresh prawns and squid slices. Not bad of a hokkien mee and I loved the crispy pork lard and sambal chilli they added in as well!

Ghim Moh Hawker Centre was really crowded on a Saturday morning and we decided to try out luck with Kong Shang Hua wanton noodles, which had a moderately long queue. For as low as $3, you can get a plate of wanton noodles, so you can be rest assured that the stall generally prices it's dishes very affordably.

The above shows the $3.50 serving, which comes with a generous serving of char siew and chillies placed at the side. This stall serves char siew that is pretty lean, so this is great for those of you who do not like fatty meat! However, we thought the noodles were a little soggy and the sauce that the noodles were served in could have been more flavourful. In fact, do remember to toss the noodles really well or you will actually find that the noodles come with the slightly alkaline taste that reminds me of the thick yellow mee. :(

There is also a serving of wanton soup along the sides, which comes with four small wantons. While the soup was served piping hot and it was nice to drink on a gloomy warming, we felt that the wantons in the soup were a little too hard. Nonetheless, we think it was still a decent dish given the price point.

Ghim Moh was really crowded and you may need to share tables with other patrons, otherwise you may take a really long time to get a seat!
