More Reviews of good food at Geylang Prawn Noodle

Used to come here for lunch when I am working around this area, counted and it has been 10 long years. Happily, drop by for a meal since I am passing by here.

Their broth is not those very gao type but has a subtle sweetness that I really like it. Please don’t have too high expectations on the prawn as it’s sliced into half which is not so meaty. The pork ribs are quite tender which you should order the mixed version.

One of those branded prawn mee where they do things very efficiently but also too commercially. Noodles, seasoning and soup were okay, but ribs were disappointing. Unless their prawns are out-of-this-world, this place is overrated.

This is my go-to when Beach Road prawn mee at Marine Parade is too crowded. Although the prawn mee is slightly less flavourful than the one at Beach Road, the service (👍👍👍) and ambience is awesome.

I am a very happy customer.

Plate of fried stuff you can always order at famous prawn noodle shops. Crispy and flavourful, it adds a good supplement to the delicious prawn noodles.

So ... we wanted to goto our usual spot @ East Coast for Hei-Mee but it wasn’t open so went for this instead. Maybe my palette is too picky but this barely made it ... 😭 Everything was just not bad. The taste was not bad, the soup was not bad ... I’m putting on calories here, it shouldn’t be not bad. It should be damn good right? 😞 Say no to unworthy calories! 🤪 Where’s your favorite Hei-Mee? Hit me with some recommendations! I need another fix soon! 🤤 #burpple

Soup was not as rich and flavourful, would be better if it was less oily. Pork ribs were tender but portion of both prawns and pork ribs were small. Still, was thankful for a comfortingly hot bowl of prawn noodles on a rainy day

A bowl of medium sized freshwater prawns will set you back about $5.50 while the ngoh hiang is appx $10. They have pork ribs, pig's tails etc too. Place was bustling with activities when we reached around 12:30pm, just in time for lunch.

I went for bee hoon which is slightly thicker than those thin version others are offering. Personally felt the soup was underwhelming and slightly oily but then there are those who might prefer this. Thoughtful gesture on their part as they have handmade paper bowls for one to throw away prawn shells.

We know there're several famous prawn noodles in Singapore - Wah Kee (Pek Kio), Da Dong (Joo Chiat), Hoe Nam River South (Tai Thong Crescent), Albert Street (Old Airport), Whitley Road (Old Airport), Beach Road (East Coast), Blanco Court (Beach Road), 545 Whampoa (Tekka), Jalan Sultan (Kallang), Fresh Taste Big Prawn (Zion Road), and Noo Cheng (Adam Road). I've tried them all, because out of all hawker we have, prawn noodles was my favorite hawker food.
🔸
But notice that these are mostly in the East area of Singapore. For North/Northeast dwellers like myself, I look to Blanco Prawn Noodle at Jalan Kaya, or Geylang Prawn Noodle at Upper Paya Lebar Road.
🔸
In terms of style, it's similar to Beach Road, Jalan Sultan and Blanco Court, although this is less robust. Prawns are fresh, and you can choose from other pork ingredients such as pig's tail and pork ribs. You can also order fried 虾饼 from the stall within the same coffee shop.
🔸
If you stay in the East, you're spoilt for choice when it comes to good (and better) prawn mee. But this is a good alternative if the East is too far for you.
