This set comes with a 2 scones (+ butter, homemade strawberry preserve, and fresh cream) 2 finger sandwiches (one cheese; one cucumber), a butter cake, a a pot of tea. The scones were good - crunchy and craggly on the outside, insides were quite moist without being wet/gummy, not dry/floury at all. The crumb was quite cake-like. I particularly enjoyed the crunchy outers! We liked it best when paired with fresh cream + jam. The finger sandwiches were average, it’s simple and can be assembled at home. The butter cake was alright - I don’t usually go for such cakes, but it’s not horrible. It had a very classic, old-skool taste (buttery? greasy? but not very strongly-flavoured) with a moist and crumbly texture. Just that it was quite oily.
Seriously, in my humble opinion this is the best scones in Singapore. No scones in hotel high tea set can compare to Fosters. Yes it is a steakhouse but seriously, the scones are done so right I keep coming back for more. Pic is afternoon tea set at $11.50 with one pot of tea, but i switched out their sandwich and cake for more scones!
I like the herbs sauce hidden below the meat and it mix well together
Priced at $10 come with single scoop ice cream and apple fruit
The dinner set comes with an appetiser (portobello salad), a main (pictured), a dessert (vanilla ice cream with peach) and a drink (iced lemon tea)
Was really impressed by the main which consisted of seared cod fish, cray fish and scallops, all on a bed of mashed potatoes and assorted veggies. The seafood was really fresh and cooked well!
Unlike the usual Dory, the cod fish & chips has a more tender, creamier taste. This was good on its own without the tar tar sauce! I find cod in general can taste a bit jelat if there's too much of it, but the portion here was just right. The fries and tangy salad also brought a good balance to the creaminess of the cod. A satisfying meal!
