More Reviews of good food at Feng Zhen Lor Mee (Taman Jurong Market)

Best Lor Mee in the West. $5 portion gets you braised noodles with mackerel fish and fried meat balls plus half a braised egg. Add chilli, garlic purée, celery and extra vinegar for extra flavours.

Please note that the queues can be very long during meal times but be patient. They tend to move quickly due to efficient teamwork at the stall.

How they managed to get into the guide and what did the inspectors tasted that convinced them of it baffles me as this bowl of lor mee wasn’t even great to begin with. The gravy lacks flavour and the accompanying ingredients were nothing extra ordinary. The yam roll pieces were okay, fish cake was normal and pork belly slices were mediocre as well. There are definitely other better lor mee stalls out there that could have gotten into this guide.

Tripitaka journeyed to the West to collect sutras. I journeyed to the West to eat lor mee.

This is probably one of the best lor mee stalls remaining in Singapore. Their bowl of lor mee comes packed full of ingredients - - - braised egg, fish cake slices, fried fish, and fried pork ball.

Their gravy is lighter and less starchy compared to other stalls but I kinda prefer this with loads of garlic and a dash of vinegar. I am not a big fan of their shredded fish (go xin mei xiang if this is what you are going for) which is rather mild tasting. The meat balll though is their main selling point. It is crispy on the outside and sweet and juicy on the inside. They used to allow you to "jia rou wan" but have stopped doing so in recent years because everyone did that and they often sell out the meat balls before they sell out their lor mee.

This is one bowl of lor mee which makes the long arduous trip west worthwhile.

✨Lor Mee✨
I went for the basic yellow noodles, and to my surprise, there was no alkaline taste at all! I like how they were really generous with the pork slices and the fried minced meatballs too! The pork slices were slightly too fat for my liking, but the minced meatballs were so enjoyable🤤 It has a little QQ taste, and it was still crispy after being in the gravy for a long time. However, the gravy is slightly more watery than usual, hence it felt more like a sauce than a gravy, but the flavour and ingredients taste just as delicious!

💰: $3
📈: 8/10

The moreish gravy, plus the homemade meatballs and fish flakes are the components that made this dish a must-try. Mix them well, together with the black vinegar and sambal chilli, and it creates a very comforting noodle dish.

My bowl of lor bee hoon is generous with toppings like shredded fish meat and their popular fried meat balls along with the usual suspects such as lor bak, fish cake and hard boiled egg.
.
The viscosity of the lor is thick but not lumpy with starch. The braising sauce is well seasoned and flavorful on its own.
.
Most people would probably enjoy it as it is but I, on the other hand, like to spam plenty of minced garlic and the all important black vinegar.

Be prepared for a queue that goes all the way to the back of the stall if you come during meal times!

A really well-seasoned plate of lor mee. Fragrant, with a good variety of ingredients like home-made meatballs, braised pork belly, shreds of fish and fish cakes. Thoroughly enjoyable.

Finally reached the other side of SG for this bowl of lor mee. As expected, the queue was rather long but fret not, it's moving fast.

Topped up $0.50 for fishes on top of the original lor mee. Comes with fried meat ball and sliced fish cake too. I like how the gravy is not heavy on starch - yummeh! 》$3.50

Come hungry for a bowl of tasty and hearty Lor Mee ($3.50) that Tastemaker Amanda Liu loves. It's hard to miss this third-floor stall in Taman Jurong Market & Food Centre — you need only look for the queue. While some lor mee gravies tend to be too starchy, the sauce here is thick without being overly gloopy, and is so full of flavour! The dish comes with heaps of toppings including the much raved about deep-fried ngoh hiang meat balls, along with a spoonful of vinegar, garlic and chilli padi — bring your appetite, but probably not a new love interest! Mix well before slurping up all that slippery goodness. The stall closes at 3pm, so visit for breakfast or lunch. Pro tip: Tastemaker Acamas Teo spotted another outlet of Feng Zhen Lor Mee at the S11 Foodcourt opposite Yew Tee MRT Station. This stall opens only until noon, or till stocks last.
Avg Price: $5 per person

For all the Lor Mee lovers out there, this is one that you wouldn't want to miss!

For the love of starchy gooey goodness, topped with crispy ngoh hiang, roasted pork belly & that chili to boot, Feng Zhen Lor Mee (#03-146) would be one that's worth the long queue.

Feng Zhen Lor Mee (💵S$3.50) 🍲

I like their version of Lor Mee, the sauce isn't that overly starchy, gooey & gloopy like many others. With toppings of Deep Fried Ngoh Hiang (Meat Balls), a spoonful that consists of Vinegar, Garlic & Chili Padi. 🌶
Mix it all together, slurp it & there you go a delicious bowl of Lor Mee. Coming from a guy that doesn't really fancy Lor Mee. 😋

ACAMASTIPS & GTK💮: If traveling all the way to Taman Jurong Market is way too far for you, Feng Zhen Lor Mee have another outlet at Yew Tee.
Located just Opposite the MRT station at the S11 Foodcourt. Open only till noon or when the stock runs out. Yea it's all in the West, welcome to the Wild Wild West. 🖖🏻

Finally back here after sometime. Love that fried meatball thingy. Quite filling and worth it.

Still among my favorite place for lor mee. Photo taken before mixing the garlic and chili. It's quite filling so if you're small eater, this can be for 2. Love the fried ngor hiong-like meatball.

Family favourite from Feng Zhen Lor Mee it's the good one you can't miss at level 3 just join the queue :p

The zup in this lor mee is so legit and fragrant / comes with shiok toppings like fried ngoh hiang meat balls, and fish meat. Prawn rolls is fave side dish indulgence. None of those overly starchy glutinous goopy nonsense sauce! This is gooey but not goopy y'know? Just really good just-right gravy along with the garlic chilli padi and vinegar 😍 Anddd only $3.50! *\(^o^)/* Shiok!
Sidenote: Amused the drink stall uncle cos I unconsciously hopped/skipped over to his stall, skidded to a stop and asked for a big cup of sugar cane LOL

Happy Good Friday everybody!!

Still haven't found one that is as good as this one.

Think thick, starchy gravy with succulent noodles and a bowl brimming with ingredients. This is what all Lor Mee wants to look like
