Have eaten at Feng Xiang a few times at various locations, but I have always gone for the fried porridge.
This time around, decided to try their main dish, their herbal BKT.
Had the medium portion at $13.90.
Soup was herbally, but wasn't so overpowering.
The meat easily slides off the rib bones. Meat was rather tender, but was slightly dry.
Overall still a rather good BKT.
But their fried porridge is still my go to dish here.
My go to place for fried porridge, first had this at beauty world centre, consistency still there. It taste just as good here.
Got Wok Hei, very shiok in every spoon.
Ingredient portions were rather good.
A fried porridge dish that overpowers the bak kut teh at a bak kut teh store
As compared to their closest competitor, Old World, I find that Feng Xiang’s fried porridge loses out in the wok hei, as it is not as intense, and the pork slices they give are much lesser as well. What stood out for me were the dried cuttlefish which gives it a nice umami touch and the crispy pork lard that adds to the overall flavour.

I like dry bak kut teh because of the sauce. The sauce is slightly sweet, not too much. Pork is very tender, has a variety of pork inside, seems quite worth it.
