Whether you're into the traditional mooncakes that are typically filled with lotus paste and egg yolk or you prefer the more modern snowskin renditions, there's always something for everyone each year! Check out this list to see some of the unique takes (from both hotels and restaurants) on this rich and decadent pastry—we're sure something will take your fancy.

Janice Wong

For Chocolate and Snowskin Mooncakes
As someone who's no stranger to celebratory confections, chef & chocolatier Janice Wong has outdone herself once again. This time, with her signature mooncake collections—Chocolate and Snowskin. Each mooncake is set to be a unique re-imagination of the ubiquitous dessert, as they've all been emboldened with Wong's expressive approach to dessert and art.

Crafted from bean-to-bar, the Chocolate Mooncake Tin ($88) showcases distinct local flavours including everything from Kaffir Lime Leaf and Laksa Lemongrass to Coconut Curry Leaf and Ginger Flower; each is marked by intricate hand-dripped paint in corresponding pastel shades of green, blue, yellow, and pink. The tin comes in a set of eight chocolate mooncakes (two flavours each) and is packed in a sustainable, reusable metal tin that's adorned with pastel hues and a rabbit-themed design.

The Snowskin Mooncake Tin ($88), on the other hand, is inspired by the native ingredients of various prefectures in Japan. Highlights include a pleasing pairing of Sake Matcha that sees an emerald snowskin mooncake infused with a bright floral sake, as well as, a rather unconventional Kombu Wasabi Chestnut flavour that sports an earthy green snowskin mooncake laced with fresh wasabi.
