This new Jumbo is very different from the rest of the chain: it is much more upmarket, with cool décor and excellent service; and it serves dim sum. The chilli crab theme and flavours are present in many new dishes (eg. puffs, buns, etc). There are unusual innovations, eg. laksa cheung fun, new-look otah. The lobster (or shrimp) with crispy rice in broth is also creative, although not as delicious as the duck with crispy rice in duck broth version at Forbidden Duck in the CBD. All in all, good, interesting, and praiseworthy innovations, but not enough of a wow. We didn’t try the classic dishes, but assumed they’re as good as usual.
