If ice cream has long been relegated to your list of sinful indulgences, think again. At this Katong joint, the dairy-free Ice Cream (from $3.50 a scoop) is made using a base of organic brown rice milk and organic evaporated cane juice, contains less than three percent fat, and averages between 80 to 140 calories a scoop — how's that for your waistline? Also, while it is texturally lighter on the palate, the ice creams here certainly don't lack in flavour. The Burpple community loves the smooth texture, as well as how refreshing the ice cream here is. The fruit flavours, which are very sorbet-like, are perfect for hot days, while creamier favourites include the peanut butter and chocolate, black sesame and mint mint mia (peppermint chocolate). For a real treat, go for the Waffle-licious Ice Cream ($8 with a scoop of ice cream) or the Brownice Ice Cream ($8), which sees a scoop of ice cream served atop a warm and fudgy vegan brownie square. If you're hankering after something more substantial, they also serve up a pretty extensive menu of vegan pastas and pizzas. The Lasagna ($17) is a winning combination of diced eggplant, tomato ragu and a special tofu crumble.
Avg Price: $20 per person
