There are places that you visit as a child with your parents and you continue visiting because the food and the restaurant setting is just so nostalgic.

Ivins ivins is one of my most dependable and Favourite places to go when I need to Savour homecooked style Peranakan food without paying through my nose. I have tried many Peranakan restaurants and with the steep prices that one pays, no one comes close to offer the value and taste that ivins ivins consistently offers.

For dinner , I had the Nonya chap chye , Babi pong Teh ( stewed fork tender lean pork in a rich brown sauce ) , Assam curry fish slices and tahu goreng.

Every dish was so good and had such complex levels of taste especially the Babi pong Teh and the Assam fish . The chap chye was cooked to the right texture and the broth was so flavourful I drank up till the last drip. The tahu goreng was so generously topped with homemade peanut sauce ( with coarsely grounded peanuts that adds so much texture and flavour to the fish ).

Even the lightly flavoured coconut rice was so tasty I could eat it on its own.

It helps that the dishes were served in Claypots which meant that they kept warm for a Long time and the latent heat helps to accentuate the Flavours .

You may be delighted to find that each dish costs between 4.50 to 6.50 - extremely pocket friendly.

With such flavour , quality and value - it's no wonder that ivins ivins is the only Peranakan restaurant that I will ever patronise for a long time to come .
