The ondeh ondeh hotcake is of the new desserts in Artistry's reworked 2017 menu, which launches today. A perfectly round pandan hotcake is topped off with a generous scoop of pandan coconut gelato, a few artistic dabs of coconut ricotta creme, and a sprinkling of toasted coconut bits.

The pandan flavors were pleasingly pungent and reminded me of a more satisfying version of those pandan waffles that go for a dollar a pop at any old bakery, but the texture of the hotcake was something else. It was light, airy and so fabulously fluffy, it beats even a well constructed sponge cake hands down.

The creamy, indulgent pandan coconut gelato was the heavy, rich counter to the light airiness of the hotcakes. The frozen sweet treat was fully loaded with the sweet, sweet notes of pandan and coconut. Unfortunately, the light drizzle of gula melaka syrup was so inadequate it was effectively a no-show. From the little dab that I managed to sample, the gula melaka syrup is simply smashing, but Artistry needs to make that sterling syrup rain, and not just sprinkle a few drops here and there. Thankfully, the lack of syrup was ameliorated by the generous scoop of wonderful gelato.

Thanks to Artistry's excellent Ondeh Ondeh Hotcakes, I now know why the term 'sell like hotcakes' exists, because it's impossible for me to physically restrain myself from throwing money at this stellar sweet treat.

Thank you for hosting us so warmly Prashant, and thanks for the invite Burpple!
