From 1 April to 15 May, diners can look forward to new dishes to the Singapore-exclusive menu such as the Kaki Soy Nabe and lunch sets like the Madai Ochazuke Set, Shio Salmon Set and sen-ryo Kushiyaki Set. Popular lunch sets such as the sen-ryo Special Bento and sen-ryo Premium Sushi Set will still be available in the lunch menu.

We had the privilege to sample some of the new dishes starting with the Chef’s Special of the Day from the Toyosu Box which was the Houbou (Red Gunnard) that is priced at $18 per 100g with an estimated weight of 250-280g per order that day. The Kaki Soy Nabe ($38.80) was a delightful hotpot of Japanese soy-milk dashi base with chewy Kuzukiri noodles, tofu, vegetables, shiitake, and freshly shucked Hyogo oysters.

The new lunch sets will be launched from 19 April onwards on weekdays from 11am to 3pm, excluding eve of and public holidays or special occasions. I got the lighter meal of Madai Ochazuke Set ($19.80) which has a bed of rice topped with sliced sea bream, bonito flakes, radish and leek, and comes with a pot of Japanese green tea broth to pour into the rice. This set also comes with chawanmushi and pickles. Another popular choice is the sen-ryo Special Bento ($29.80) which comes with nine of chef’s recommended side dishes such as assorted sashimi, tamagoyaki, ebi tempura and tako karaage. To compliment these side dishes, the set comes with rice, miso soup and warabimochi.
