Maguro (tuna) is never my first choice of fish at Japanese restaurants in Singapore because many of them serve akami (red meat) which has a strong bloody smell and taste. But I'm glad I found Maguro-donya where I can enjoy fresh maguro with premium cuts that are prepared in the best simplistic way to bring out the fresh and naturally sweet flavours of maguro.

This aburi donburi is half covered with thickly sliced Bluefin maguro otoro (fattiest part of the tuna) and the other half with freshly scraped maguro meat. Watch them flame-sear the donburi right in front of you and enjoy that beautiful and savory smell of fresh maguro! 😍 Wait and behold, the aburi maguro just fell apart in my mouth with such strong umami. The maguro oil that seeped through after torched made the rice tasted heavenly. πŸ˜‹

(P.S.: The set comes with miso soup, chawanmushi (oishii desu!), salad and fruits. Talk about a well-balanced and tasty meal πŸ˜„.)
