Tanuki Raw is no stranger to many. With thousands of pictures of their Truffle Yakiniku Donburi flying all over the internet for the past few years, this place had better be good.

To save your wallet, go during the lunch time to enjoy their donburi at a lower price. Contrary to popular choice, I got the Salmon Kaisendon lunch set ($12.90 + $2) which came with salmon done four ways - fresh, torched, torched with mentaiko, and tossed in spicy sauce - miso soup, salad, and green tea. I loved that the salmon was fresh and generous, and the miso soup was uniquely tasty. Their signature mixed rice laced with black sesame seeds and crispy bits was also very fragrant, but it was difficult to stomach after a few mouths as the rice was really dry. I would definitely appreciate if they could drizzle some sauce over the rice (perhaps a shoyu-based sauce for those with sashimi, or even an onsen egg would be good).

Definitely a popular place for the office workers dropping by for filling lunch and socialising after work hours over their bar snacks and drinks.
