From Mrs Pho House at 221 Rangoon Road, started by the same people who founded Mrs Pho at Beach Road — the new branch takes a focus on mains and seafood (think communal dining plates like tze-char with Vietnamese fare) rather than their signature Pho, though there are still 3 Pho options on the menu here.

Banh Xeo is a Vietnamese Crepe dish; a fusion of an omelette and pancake in one — expect a largely eggy omelette, crisp on edges with a light and thin batter within. Inside, the omelette comes with a lot of goodies such as meat, prawn, beansprouts and comes with coriander, lettuce and chili with a chili dip on the side. To eat it the correct way, nib off a little bit of the pancake, wrap it within the lettuce together with some coriander and dip it in the tangy chili sauce (alternatively, if you are like me just stack them altogether). It's a simple medley of common ingredients that are clean-tasting yet flavourful in their own right, with loads of texture within. A little strange that the variant here doesn't come with mint leaves though, which is usually served elsewhere together with the other greens at the side.
