A shocking thing happened today. I managed to stop myself from ordering the “Drunken Pork Noodles”, my ultimate favourite dish at Kra Pow.
Instead, I got the “Devil’s Fried Rice with Seafood” which turned out to be nowhere near as hellishly hot as I’d anticipated (and hoped). It was really tasty though but not enough to knock the aforementioned noodles off my no. 1 spot. Only because this was a little sweet in comparison (likely due to a dash of tomato sauce) and I am naturally more drawn to a savoury taste profile.
Having said that, there’s no doubt this was one VERY well executed fried rice. The grains were light and fluffy, and there were big pieces of squid, fish and prawns to be found. I was also pleased to see perky-looking “kailan” and an egg tossed in for good measure. Still, that didn’t stop me from forking out an extra dollar to top it all off with a proper fried egg. I am of the opinion that every plate of fried rice tastes better with a runny-yolked egg.
