Always love my FUN (้ฅญ) & this time, i got mine at @ironricebowlpp, a branch of Iron Supper Club helmed by celebrity chef Heman. ๐ After a recent intense discussion on the best Char Siew in Singapore with @foodleaguesg @whitelabelpr & @so.gelly, I found it challenging to resist ordering a Char Siew Pork Rice Bowl ($12.90). ๐๐๐ Needless to say, I caved in to temptations! ๐
.
Their 4 Grain Blackberry Rice was certainly ticked off the box for my #eatclean attempt. ๐๐ป Of a pleasant firm & chewy texture, it releases the fragrance of the grains in every bite. ๐๐๐Accompanied by sweet corn kernels, crispy pok choy crackers & tart pickles (both remind me of yusheng!) & topped with a perfectly runny egg, I was honestly excited about my meal. ๐
.
The set includes a small side of fresh greens with perfectly crispy sweet potato tempura โญ, firm piece of silken tofu, & a milky-white collagen soup that you totally should mix with your rice. ๐คค๐คค๐คค It imparts some sweet & savoury elements as well as harmonising the taste of the ingredients together ๐ฏ, just that I didnโt like it making my crackers soggy. ๐
.
Moving on to the highlight - the Char Siew! Quite a good lean-fat ratio that I think most people will like (though I prefer leaner cuts) so it was quite tender, albeit not juicy. โค However, Iโd definitely prefer more caramelised glaze & char, cuz my ideal Char Siew has to be glistening & charred! The predominantly sweet sauce compensated a little for the lack of smoky flavours. ๐
.
They offer a wide array of rice bowls like BBQ Pork Baby Back Ribs, 14-Day Aged Pork Tonkatsu, Braised Pork Belly, Braised Beef Brisket, BBQ Half Chicken, Breaded Fish etc. Youโll be spoilt for choice! โ Worth a try for Easties! ๐
