Halal | Tasting] Went down to Flavour Flings last Saturday for an invited tasting of their menu, where I had the opportunity to try out some of their most raved about things!

This is their Beef Steak & Raclette ($24.90). The centrepiece of this dish composes of beef from grass-fed New Zealand cows as well as blow-torched melted raclette cheese scraped straight from the cheese wheel. Both elements - the chew of the medium and pinkish slab of beef as well as the hot layer of gooey cheese (which solidifies into a cold chunk in a matter of minutes by the way) made for a bite almost as satisfying as a pizza's.

However, that being said, it was quite lacking in terms of taste. Most of that came from the baked potatoes and the thin bed of sauce beneath the steak. Such a difference in intensity of flavours among the elements in the dish means it runs a risk of going horribly wrong, and thus demands more attention and care. In Flavour Flings' case, their execution was a positive result, but their method felt a little too safe.

It was pretty delicious overall and I quite enjoyed it. Yet, I ultimately feel that everything here didn't add up to a remarkable gastronomical experience. Still though, I don't think I'm wrong when I say that this dish has a combination inviting enough to warrant any meat-lover at least one try! (7.2/10)
