The Dessert Do-nut is a super colourful plate. You get a piece of cake donut as the centrepiece, slathered with Kitchener’s Pistachio Nut Butter, topped with a big dollop of vanilla ice-cream, followed by some oatmeal bits, and finally a pecan nut that sits on the summit. Outside its circumference, the plate is decked with plenty of nuts, strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, dried cranberries, marshmallow bits, and a drizzle of honeyed syrup to complete this edifice of decadence. 🤤

I would’ve preferred a more delicate layer to the donut, but I enjoyed this a lot. It’s not too heavy or queasy-inducing, for starters. It somehow doesn’t come close to being saccharine, despite the number of sweet ingredients that could potentially have neutered it. It feels most apt to have among friends (or by yourself, which was what I did) when there’s an occasion or a personal achievement to celebrate.

I’m smitten. I’m impressed. Percolate is one reliable café if need to sort out my sweet tooth cravings. They’re modest, amicable and unpretentious – this place is just ideal to chill, read a book or magazine while having some good food. 😍 (7.6/10)
