This is my absolute favorite fishball noodles. And it's SO important to ask for extra chili. This fragrant and spicy sambal chili elevates the humble fishball mee pok to manna from heaven. The flavorful soup is another big plus.

A little background: I first chanced upon this heavenly bowl in Bukit Batok 12 years ago. I fell deeply in love and carried on a love affair with the fishballs for a few years. But the stall closed when the owner uncle sustained an injury. So I was on fishball noodle drought for a few miserable months. Then hubby had a bowl at Ghim moh that tasted eerily similar. After getting to know the owner, he was told that the Bukit Batok one was operated by his brother and another brother helms a stall at Holland Drive. Another few months passed and we happened to watch an episode of Makansutra featuring the stall in Holland Drive. So we went to try that weekend. And Poof! We saw a glimpse of heaven at our first bite. This one has an exceptional chili sauce that is superior to the other two. Subsequently the Bukit Batok stall was reopened by owner's son, but the chili was even more different than before cos he tweaked the recipe. We became regulars at the Holland Drive stall and uncle happily told us his daughter was going to open a stall at Old Airport Road and carry on the proud family tradition. We went to support one Sunday and found uncle there helping out! Such lovely family love. I'm so in love with the chili that uncle sold me some. An honour only for loyal customers! Now I still frequent this Old Airport Road stall but I don't see uncle or his daughter anymore.

Fishball mee pok with extra chili, I will love you my whole life.
