From the "Hot" menu at Chikuwatei Nishi — grilled Kurobuta Pork Belly with runny onsen egg and slaw. Thought the grilled meat was delicious but felt like it was something short for a Donburi that costs $16++. No doubt, the Kurobuta Pork Belly carried a nice hint of chargrilled smokiness alongside its savouriness while being tender, juicy and succulent — it gives a good chew in the mouth and was immensely flavourful. That being said, the whole Donburi felt a little too bare; the rice somewhat felt a little plain overall while the onsen egg felt closed to a fried egg being rather flat with a yolk that was barely runny. Probably best to skip the Donburi here and go straight for the Nishi Maki menu which is felt promising overall.
