Enjoyed the Umami Mentaiko Smoked Salmon toast which was served on thinly sliced sourdough toast. Thought it had a good well balanced flavour that was sweet, savory and refreshingly tangy from the mix of housemade mentaiko and Tobiko, pickled cucumber and creamy sous vide Nuyolk eggs.
Thank you @burpple for the kind invite and @evanskitch for having us!
Served on thinly sliced sourdough toast, flavours of the Bbq pulled pork was great too with silky scrambled egg and cabbage slaw.
Another dish that I enjoyed was the North Malaysia Slow Cooked Coconut Beef Brisket Stew - essentially, a rich and aromatic beef rendang with pretty tender beef chunks; which was served with my favourite pappadum and toast (rice option is also available!). This is supposed to be for sharing but I think I could’ve easily finished it on my own.
Thank you Burpple for the kind invite and Evan’s Kitch for having us!
Evan’s Kitch is a small cafe tucked within a corner of City Gate, a tad obscure but the food we had were good, and menu is extensive enough for one to keep going back.
The mains were fantastic! The flavourful pork stew with al dente spaghetti was one of my favourite, tho I did find the nicely charred pork belly to be too fatty and would prefer a better meat/ fat ratio. Served also with sous vide egg which you can mix in for a creamier texture. Will be back for this!

The salmon toast was great, however the steak with fries was well done (called for medium) and over seasoned with salt.
Had the Chilli Soft Shell Crab Spaghetti and Salmon Mentaiko Bowl with 2 Mojitos. Total was $55 nett including the drinks with burpple beyond. Overall extremely satisfied with the food, I can't recommend this place enough and feel a little sad with the lack of crowds at the place which imo is cos of the location, but the food is just wow. The chef really knows what he's doing and the ingredients he uses are just so premium and top notch. Presentation wise its rly like at an atas restaurant and for the price point i think its really worth as the portion is quite generous. Pasta was not jelak at all, salmon was really fresh with very nice coating of mentaiko. Will be back for sure! One thing to note is that each pair of 2 can only order 1 steak between them and cannot order any of the truffle items with the burpple promotion.
