The Steak Taco ($8+/piece, minimum 2 pieces per order) was also enjoyable - Wagyu beef cubes with avocado & salsa fresca. With ingredients spilling out, this looked promising on first serve. & it didn’t disappoint.

I was told by Mervyn that this may be more filled up than the usual portion, to make up for chef not being in.

The remaining options in their Tacos Menu:
🔸 Salmon Taco - Avocado, Black Sesame, Wasabi Mayo
🔸 Guac Taco - Avocado, Salsa Fresca, Fresh Yuzu

I'm a fan of legit mexican tacos, & thus fusion tacos are a bit risky with me...(+ I don't even like TexMex to begin with.) Decided to try Entrance's tacos because I wanted something more substantial than their bar snack nibbles to eat.

These tacos surprised & impressed me. At $8+/piece (minimum 2 pieces per order), these are at a fairly steep price point.. But I enjoyed every bite of it.

The taco envelope itself is special - a housemade nori taco shell. Fried in a light batter to a delightful crisp, & with the umami flavour of the seaweed. Already a good start...

I had the Chicken Katsu Taco, which had a delightful dressing mix of yuzu goma & katsuobushi katsu mayo. Shredded cabbage added good texture & slight crunch as well. Quite pleasing in every bite.

The Angel Hair ($28+) was the only available main course that night... The only other 2 mains - Tokyo Chicken ($24+) & Steak ($34+) - weren't available, as chef wasn't in.

While the mains menu is limited (with only 3 options), the bar snacks & sharing plates menus are more extensive. However, I was starvin' marvin' & wanted a solid meal, so this is why I was disappointed that I wasn't informed beforehand.

I felt that this was okay, decent plating & all. It wasn't unpleasant, but also not spectactular. The description made it sound better than it tasted - lobster bisque, tiger prawns, ikura & shiso. I'm undecided if I'd order this again. I actually enjoyed the tacos much more than this main dish.

They also do bespoke cocktails ($26+); here's my Boulevardier, after bartender Mervyn had a chat with me on my drink/base/flavour preferences.

I enjoyed it, & appreciated that Mervyn checked in on how I liked my drink shortly after it was served. You'd think this is basic SOP at cocktail bars, but it is strangely absent in several spots in Singapore.

They have a list of curated cocktails on their menu - here's the Marilyn Forever ($25+), inspired by Marilyn Monroe... Ruby Port, Cava, Fresh Grapefruit, Peach Bitters.

It's an easy-drinking one, yet deep & enjoyable to sip on as a starting drink. Not sure how I feel about the decorations on the glass, though....

They serve up Japanese-European fare & cocktails in a cosy, small space with warm mood lighting - great for a romantic date night (we were the only table there).. Although I understand they are also booked out for parties as well, which can get pretty wild.

👆🏻 That was the explanation given to me when I was informed that the chef wasn't in that day (is it he hungover, lol). Would've appreciated being informed beforehand, but since I was there already .... It is what it is.
