food: ordered 2 plates, amount of sauce was inconsistent, so one had less sauce than the other. :( i felt that it could have been spicier, and the chicken chop was tough :/ but it was nice and savoury, something reassuring and filling for a hungry stomach.
Though it might be messy, it looks ugly, but it is damn right delicious. The most popular brands in town belong to one along Jalan Besar, and two in Tiong Bahru. However, I have found a hidden gem inside a coffeeshop across Bugis+, run by two lovely ladies and the stall’s name is Eleven Fingers (Eu Kee) Scissors Curry Rice. The selection here might not be as wide, but you have your quintessential braised pork, braised cabbage, fried egg and pork cutlet, which is more than enough for a gooey messy plate of goodness. You pick your desired ingredients, the lady will scoop them for you and snip them up with a pair of scissors before flooding the rice and ingredients with a thick viscous mixture of braising sauce, chilli sauce and curry sauce.
As compared to the popular Beach Road Scissor Cut Curry Rice, which has been my favourite all along, Eleven Fingers Scissors Curry Rice has a spicier curry sauce and the rice is cooked perfectly, and the gravy mixture coats each grain well. Prepare for a food coma after eating a plate of this and it is well worth the journey there.

Unlike a typical economical rice stall, this curry rice stall have a very limited number of dishes available. I picked the braised pork belly, curry chicken and stewed cabbage which added up to $4.50.
.
The pork belly is well braised. Despite being covered by a coat of curry, the braising flavor still come through as I bit down on the tender meat.
.
I read that they only serve chicken wings here which is exactly what I received when I requested for "curry chicken". The large sized chicken wing did not taste like it had been marinated but the tender flesh still tasted good with the flavorful curry.
.
I thought the stewed cabbage would be very mushy but no, they still retained that refreshing crunch which provides an alternate texture to the rice.
.
I find the usual Chinese curry too runny, not spicy enough and had too much coconut milk for my liking. For me, curry should be thick, spicy and a little sticky.
.
The curry here ticks all the boxes for me.

Another of our favourite place for Hainanese Scissors cut curry rice! We are always torn because we have to crack our brains to choose the dishes they have! A few of our must orders are their stewed cabbage, breaded fried pork chop, curry chicken wings! After cutting those dishes into smaller sizes, they adds generous serving of signature curry and braised gravy over the entire plate!! Omgggg, it’s super satisfying and mouth-watering!! Enjoying the entire plate, scrapping every grains of rice and every bit of curry! After doing up this post, it makes us crave for another plate! #hungryunicornsg #elevenfingereukeescissorcurryrice #elevenfingerscissorcurryrice #scissorscurryrice #scissorscutcurryrice
Sloppy and wet, exactly how curry rice is supposed to be. Expect queues at this famous stall, generous with curries when requested for. A comforting meal for those who are too lazy to go to the less accessible Scissors Cut Curry Rice! This came up to less than $4!
Isn't the best, but simply endearing. There isn't much choices in terms of dishes. The classic curry chicken, the braised pork belly, the typical Hainanese cabbage and fried egg. That's it. That's all they have.. Put all that together and drenched the whole plate in curry gravy, the braised gravy and two other sauce, and you have the complete set! Delicious, simple and really a huge messy plate. Nothing about it screams photo worthy, but my tastebuds says otherwise.
