I'm not sure if chef heard the feedback, but given this dish totally changed, I suspect he did. This went from confused to fulfilling its destiny. The lard was fresh this time and the pork was more ham than bacon. Together with his already good carbonara and sous vide egg, it's perfect.

This stall can be erratic, but luckily I landed on a good meal this time. This aglio olio was full force flavour, unlike many elsewhere. The mushrooms were also damn generous.

Finally tried this western food stall in a pretty secluded area and it was really pretty good!

The Black Pepper Chicken Chop ($7.80) came in a pretty sizeable portion, with a huge amount of sauce given. The chicken was grilled well and was tender. The black pepper sauce was definitely savoury and very peppery, great for people who love the pepper flavour! Side were okay, nothing much to shout out about. This is like your old school western fare but definitely a better quality!

The Fish And Chips ($8.80) came with 2 pieces of fried fillet, which were fried well. The batter was light and crispy, while keeping the fish moist within. The fish was fresh and flaky! Paired with their tartar sauce, this is one good old school western fare.

Saw that there is stall selling cheap beers on tap, definitely getting those next time to accompany the food here 😍

I love bar cicheti to so when i heard an ex chef had started his own stall, just had to give it a try. Yet another case of high expectations not being met. I mean it’s a decent carbonara by hawker standards, but cutting costs means you get the usual creamy pasta without the decadent richness of yolks and parmesan. Pork lard lends an interesting twist and was fragrant albeit rather tasteless.

Okay they raised the game. I heard this is a dish at Cicheti. Very impressive. Each morsel was dense yet crispy, flavourful, with the potato in it very distinctive. The fungi and sauce did not skimp, it was so rich. Its only fault was it got jelak at some point, which was hardly its fault.

I was initially excited they finally added a pasta menu, because, you know, chef's from Cicheti. But the result was mixed hmm. Whatever the intention was, and despite me being a lard fanatic, this didn't work. Taken together the bacon, lard and spaghetti were confusing. But I award some credit for the authenticity of carbonara, minimal with just a sous vide egg.
