Famous yes, but the taste test underdelivered. Ingredients include banana, crushed peanuts, grated coconut and tart. But they felt disparate. To me the highlight was how thick and real the banana filling was.

Only banana pie available
Got 4 pieces at S$13.20

Their banana pie is so nice that the shop only sell this. One piece cost 3.30. Crunchy on the outside, moist banana at the center. Highly recommended!

It's so crumbly and stuffed with caramelized bananas. We bought this at 12pm+ and it was almost sold out. Best when toasted warm, makes for great teabreak ($3.50 per slice 🍰)

🍴TAKE OUT🍴
📍Dona Manis Cake Shop , Katong Shopping Centre📍
💸 Banana Pie: $3 per slice
...
The banana pie from Dona Manis is super soft, crumbly and fragrant🥧! When it came out hot from the oven, we could smell the pastry from miles away and it smells super good🤤. The banana🍌 was soft and sweet, and the coconut on top added a nice crispy texture to it🥥. We love the pie pastry itself, as it was flaky and buttery, literally crumbles in your mouth. Each slice is pretty sizeable as well, as a slice of it with a cup of hot tea makes a yummy and filling afternoon snack🍵!

I was first introduced to Dona Manis' amazing chocolate tarts by D during our national service days and have been a big fan since.

Dona Manis is an old-school bakery run by an old uncle and several aunties. They used to do the chocolate tarts on a daily basis but stopped doing so due to a combination of age and lack of manpower. In fact, I probably only get to savour their chocolate tarts on 1 out of 5 visits as there are no fixed days as to when they are baking them.

Their chocolate tarts can be a little fragile so my suggestion is to eat them immediately or the chocolate gets molten and messy, and the tart gets crumbly. I kept mine in the fridge overnight which kinda explains how they end up being #uglydelicious with the little cracks on the chocolate filling.

When eaten fresh, the chocolate is slightly molten. I like that it strikes a nice balance between sweet and buttery, and is not too rich and creamy. The tart is buttery and savoury. I recommend popping the entire tart into your mouth at one go so as not to waste any of the delicious chocolate gold.

Tbh I will gladly have these chocolate tarts over any of those fancy chocolatiers in town any time, any day.

Banana pie @ $2.80/slice

Have had this many times already and I still feel wow-ed by how amazing it can be. The pie is flaky and crusty, while the filling of banana is so full and rich with a tinge of coconut to balance it out. And the toppings add another layer and dimension to the taste and texture.

I will come back to this over and over again. Just hope the price remains as it is for as long as possible.

disappointed taste different. it was better years back and now priced has increased too

Stuffed bananas with a top layer of grated fried coconut sitting on a buttery flaky crust 😋😋😋 For $2.80 a slice, this is a cheap find for a sweet treat if you're in the area. Located at the basement of katong shopping centre, they usually sell out before their closing time, so it's best to come early to avoid disappointment.

5 pieces of freshly baked banana pie, for the early bird that gets the worm. Came out warm and the smell of bananas… CHEFS KISS!!!

Very nice and buttery crust. I will definitely get the pies if I near the vicinity.

heard it’s the best banana pies in sg so i had to try it! love how it’s not overly rich or sweet. the pie crust was firm yet crumbly at the same time and the buttery fragrance really complemented the sweet banana filling. also loved the added fragrance and texture from the coconut shavings and chopped nuts on top. truly a slice of goodness 🍌🥧

Superb banana pie that is not sweet and made of solid and fresh ingredients! Run by a sweet elderly couple. The flavours are simple and direct, banana, coconut and fragrant flaky crust. It grew on me despite having it on a full full stomach :)

Choc tarts ($4.50 for 5): 8.5/10
Pro tip: I also left them out for a few mins so that the choc filling will be more flowy 🤩🤩 Can we take a moment to look at that mini choc lava 🥺

Surprisingly there was no queue today when I arrived at 12.15pm on weekday. But they were out of chocolate tarts so I had to settle for just their famous banana pies which are always very nicely done.

Uncle looks like in his late 80s and with Katong Shopping Center up for en bloc, go and enjoy his pies and tarts while they are still available.

After seeing this stall appearance a few time at Social Media, I decided to give it a try. The Banana pie ($2.50) is their signature.

I find that their crust is nice. The hand made their crust themselves and it is not overly sweet. However, I find that their Banana filling is ok and nothing to shout about. They put the whole banana and it can be gluey.

With their affordable price and delicious crust, it is good to patronise again.

You can have these mini tarts right out of the fridge, but I like it more after letting it sit for a few minutes - you get a more viscous chocolate filling. These are pretty pricey little bites, but no doubt a nice treat!
