The most simple looking things often surprise by being the most outstanding. Like this Apple & Pear Hand Pie at Crackerjack. My favourite out of all the desserts we tried with it's warm, not so sweet filling and hint of plantation rum.

Get your coffee fix here! 👍This cafe serves pretty good coffee, with beans from two degrees north!

Slow cooked apples and pears deglazed with a splash of Plantation Rum, encased in their housemade pie shell, served with a scoop of Butter Pecan Icecream. The combination of sweet, creamy, crumbly and temperature difference (hot pie vs cold icecream) was delightful and it pulls you in for second serves.

All served in a cast iron pan, the sweet potatoes were soft, chunky with a pleasant subtle natural sweetness. The breakfast sausage is juicy, tender and meaty, well marinated and flavourful. Along with the crunch and juiciness of the red capsicums and cracker-like crispness of kale, the baked egg in middle (swipe to the end to view) had a soft and slightly runny vibrant yolk which would have been better with a greater flow .

Special menu.

Today Crackerjack had a special Piña Colada menu. I had the Piña Colada spread on toast. Which was pretty much their rendition of kaya toast served with 63 degree eggs. The buttery spread tasted like coconut and pineapple, but everything worked together well. The plain eggs could've used some sauce or flavouring cos once I finished the toast it was a little hard to finish the plain eggs. But all in all, good value at just $6.

High west rye whiskey, averna coffee, smoked maple, black walnut – smooth and oaky with a spicy finish. A spirit-forward drink, for times when we need a drink and we need it strong.
