This seafood restaurant located along MacPherson Road serves great crabs. Chilli, Black Pepper, Salted Egg, with Bee Hoon. Promotion now at S$38 for 2 X 400g mud crabs. I ordered Chilli Crabs of course. The meat is firm and succulent even for such small crabs and the gravy is thick and spicy. Goes well with Deep Fried Man Tou.

The other house specialty is their Steamed Baby Squids with Garlic. Must order a bowl of rice to enjoy the steamed squid sauce. Heavenly.

Special mention for their belachan chilli. Not for the faint hearted, this one packs a punch in terms of the heat. Great with clams and prawns.

Definitely my new go to place for chilli crabs. Do remember to book and be patient for your food. Even on a Monday night, it was full and we had to wait 25 mins for our seafood. Service is also stretched as they have only two staff serving and taking orders. They are very polite though. Just drink your beer and munch on edamame and pickled guava.

We also tried the 𝐆𝐮𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐒𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐑𝐢𝐛𝐬 ($18/M), 𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐄𝐠𝐠 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐧 ($14/S), and 𝐁𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐆𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐝 𝐎𝐦𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞 ($12/S) (all 4 ⭐️) which were well-executed but not particularly memorable. The kind of dishes that we wouldn’t mind ordering again, but might prefer to try others amidst its vast menu.

Among the dishes we tried, the dishes we would return for would be:
1. 𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐝 𝐁𝐚𝐛𝐲 𝐒𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐝 ($24/S) (4.5 ⭐️): fresh and juicy mini squid perfectly cooked, smothered with a blanket of chopped garlic, and doused with an addictive soy concoction. So addictive!
2. 𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐝 𝐁𝐚𝐛𝐲 𝐒𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐝 ($12) (4.5 ⭐️): excellently crisp. Some places over or under fry which would result in an overly tough or chewy squid. This was not the case, and was perfect.
3. 𝐃𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐟𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐝 𝐟𝐢𝐬𝐡 𝐬𝐤𝐢𝐧 ($10) (4.5 ⭐️): again freshly fried to perfection and generous in portion.
4. 𝐄𝐠𝐠𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐭 ($18) - Well braised and flavourful eggplant with crisp skin and soft gooey flesh. Paired with well fried tofu for extra textural contrast.

not sure what the inventor was thinking when he/she first cooked it but man, kudos to him/her for this unlikely combination ☺️ where else has good coffee ribs, lmk! •

A chilli crab meal is not complete without mantous that are fried to a crisp golden brown ☺️

Drowned in potent garlic butter sauce, the baby squid was real juicy and chewy and you could easily demolish this dish if paired with a bowl of rice.
