Tender Enough BBQ Ribs Full Rack ($21) This is NOT on the regular menu; apparently a special that Bowen's told us about when we were placing our orders. They have half-rack portions as well. Portion-wise, this isn't as substantial as, say, Morganfield's, but it is good value for money. The ribs themselves were delicious, & the meat is tender & juicy. However, the BBQ sauce tastes very generic; those who don't enjoy slightly sour/vinegary/salty BBQ sauces may not like this. I scraped off some of the sauce & enjoyed the meat with lil' bit of BBQ flavour; I liked it. 💵 Cash only ☀ Alfresco seats only 🚫 No WiFi (it's in a coffeeshop!)

Something Unique Signature Spaghetti with Wild Boar Sauce ($8.90) This looks fairly ordinary & even bordering on gross-looking (sorry), but I enjoyed it. The sauce tastes somewhat like a creamy ragu, if that even makes sense. The standard pasta is spaghetti, but I was offered the Fettuccine option which apparently pairs better with the sauce. I wholeheartedly agree! It scoops up the sauce nicely & with every bite there is a nice portion of pasta with the good ol' sauce dribbling off of it. I could imagine some folks wanting more meat or ingredients in this dish, but this did not bother me (for some strange reason). 💵 Cash only ☀ Alfresco seats only 🚫 No WiFi (it's in a coffeeshop!)

More Please Mushroom Soup with Garlic Bread ($3.50) The bowl is really really shallow, so don't expect much soup. This makes me jokingly) sad because the soup was tasty & at a good price point! Garlic Bread was crispy yet not burnt. Would recommend this as a simple add-on to your a la carte dishes. 💵 Cash only ☀ Alfresco seats only 🚫 No WiFi (it's in a coffeeshop!)

Tender But Why So Salty Signature Prime Ribeye Steak ($15.90) I always eat my steaks Medium Rare, but this was more towards a Medium Well. Probably because it's a thin slab (≈1 cm thick?), so it was cooked over the doneness that I asked for. Surprisingly, it wasn't as tough as I thought it would be. So the texture was alright, but I did not like how it was very salty! It was way over-seasoned, which is such a pity because the sauce it comes with is AMAZING. Not sure what goes into the sauce (Beef Au Jus?) but it was super beefy yet not pungent. Unfortunately, I couldn't bear to pour it over my steak because there was already so much flavour (i.e. salt) on the steak. For this reason, I'm undecided if I'd order this again. 💵 Cash only ☀ Alfresco seats only 🚫 No WiFi (it's in a coffeeshop!)

For Excellent Hong Kong Style Roast Meats This cha chaan teng along Victoria Street is helmed by an esteemed chef who was previously the number one barbecue cook at The Excelsior Hotel and Convention Centre in Hong Kong, so you can expect the roast meat to be excellent. If there's only one thing to get on the menu, let it be the Pork Belly Char Siew ($16), a personal favourite of our Burpple Tastemaker Russell Leong. He describes it as "thick slices of wobbly, fatty porcine perfection with a fat to meat ratio of nearly 1:1, charcoal roasted to gluttonous glory before taking a dip in a sweet, honey-infused sauce". Thankfully, it's not as oily as you'd expect it to be, and the luscious, melt-in-your-mouth fatty bits together with the tender meat is best shared amongst two people. Otherwise, come with a group of friends and have the Four Heavenly Kings Platter ($48) to share — it comes with crispy roasted duck, soy sauce chicken, barbecued pork and crispy roasted pork. Avg Price: $10 per person Photo by Burpple Tastemaker Russell Leong

Brisk Business Cantonese style beef brisket noodles are a little uncommon in Singapore, due to the Hainanese style beef noodles being far more prevalent. So when I saw this plate of beefy beauty that comes highly recommended by Jayne on the menu, I knew I had to order it. And boy I can see why she loves it. Big chunks of mindblowingly magnificent beef that fall apart when prodded with chopsticks are loaded to the brim with amazing, savory flavors. Each bite is an explosion of flavors on your palette, and the sheer softness of the meat ensures that you are almost inhaling the beef instead of chewing it. As for the noodles, they were free of the repulsive alkaline taste that seems to plague many noodle places in recent days, and they were tossed in a pleasantly palatable sauce. For just $8.80, you too, can hop aboard the one way trip to this fabulous flavor fiesta. #burpplebestbugis

烧味双拼 / Twin Combo ($17.50) Choose between Roasted Duck, Soy Sauce Chicken & Roasted Pork to make your own combo of roasted meats! The Roasted Pork was a juicy combination of perfectly crisp crackling with soft & equal layers of fat & meat. As for the soy sauce chicken, the tenderness of the chicken was just right, easily making it one of the favorites for the evening.

Bebek Goreng Pak Ndut I had this during the Ramadan period with my Muslim friends. I was pleasantly surprised by the dish especially the chilli. Having said that it's fried. Eating too much and the chicken felt a bit dry and difficult to finish. It's still worth the calories for the occasional indulgence!

Yummy! But prefer western style duck confits 😂 Lucky Plaza outlet: Famous crispy duck from @bebekgorengpakndut_sg! The Asian duck confit 😂 It's normal-nice, won't purposely travel there, or have cravings for it. Rating: 7/10 Will i return/recommend: Yes/Yes Pros: Not a fan of peanut sauce but lovin' the gado-gado (veg) ❤ Oxtail meat was very tender. Crispy duck is yums, especially the skin, so sinful yet good. Cons: Don't feel too authentic. The duck was nice, but it's not same as the ones i had in Indo & tad bit dry. It's like a simplified version. Oxtail soup was thin (prefer stew versions), & too much "stuffs" inside. Beware the chilli, it's super spicy. Prefer to takeaway/ubereats, place not comfy. Price: S$37.40 - 2pax, finished nearly everything

Gold Standard 红油抄手 Ordered XLB (10 for $6) and 红油抄手/red oil chilli vinegar wantons (10 for $4.50). XLBs are decent and affordable, although I still prefer paradise dynasty's. The 红油抄手 is amazing though - savory and slightly spicy. Just ate at the Alexandra Food Centre's Shang Hai La Mian XLB a couple of days ago and that paled in comparison to this. This was the first place that I tried 红油抄手 - guess the bar has already been set extremely high.

Slurp Is The Sound You'll Make When you eat these magnificent dumplings. These dumplings have such a thin and smooth skin that you'll be tempted to swallow them whole. Perfectly boiled, and doused with just the right amount of soy sauce, vinegar and chilli oil, these dumplings will work up your appetite. Recommended portion: One plate per person

Szechuan Spicy Wantons | 4.5bucks Skins so thin you could tell that these wantons were handmade. Minced pork filling was edging towards the sweet side, but drench it in their concoction of black vinegar, premium soy sauce and chilli oil, loaded with a generous amount of fresh spring onions for some added texture with every mouthful. At 4.5bucks for ten whopping pieces, THIS is a real steal. #burpplecheapandgood #FTrecommends

红油抄手 (Hong You Chao Shou) Sze Chuan Chili Dumplings [$4.50] Don’t think I’ve posted about this before but these handmade dumplings are the best I’ve had anywhere in SG, and yes, they are definitely comparable to those you find in restaurants! Handmade daily, these wantons have the most silky smooth skins with a well seasoned pork filling. The best part of it all though, is that SPICY SAUCE, a spot on balance of vinegar and heat, making it all soooooo appetising! Have been having these for the longest time ever and the quality has never been compromised. #BurppleMajulahMakan

Seafood Hor Fun Priced at $7, this Seafood Hor Fun will fill your tummy with goodness throughout your meal. The Hor Fun is simply amazing with the 'Wok' taste in every bite you take. Although the gravy seems like it has a lot of minced garlic in it, but there's hardly any taste of it. The seafood that they use are all very fresh and pairs well with the whole dish. Portion wise is about 3/4 of Herry-Stomach 😜

Prawn Paste Chicken Wing As unhealthy as the words "chicken wing" may sound, you should really come down here to have a taste! Costing you $13.90, it gets you 9 pieces of chicken wings with their special chili by the side. The chicken wing was still very tender and crispy even after it's been left untouched for a long time. Most chicken wings will turn soggy or tough if you don't eat it quickly, but it's not the case for this. The chili pairs really well with the chicken wing, although it's slightly spicy. Just a side note, the plating was creative as it was on a boat-like plate. 😂

But if you have not tried it before, it's worth trying at least once 😊 I do not recommend the other dishes. 🐟 Rating: 6.8/10 🐟 Will i return/recommend: Yes/Yes 🐟 Pros: Closes pretty late. Tasty fish soup! Convenient location. Serves up variety of tze char dishes and fish steamboat. 🐟 Cons: Long q's. Not the best fish soup around. Fried fish was soaked too long prior to serving. Not-your-typical western stall. I like how they used purple cabbage to make their coleslaw visually appealing. . Chicken chop was nicely grilled and retained it's tender juiciness. Though I usually prefer my meat to be slightly charred for the smoky aroma. . Cheap and good find in the neighborhood which even my picky mama gave her thumbs up.

Awesome Cheesy Salted Egg York Fries! Randomly found this stall on Burpple and decided to give his a try. At first it was lil hard to locate this stall as I thought it's a restaurant and expecting to see the signboard from far LOLZ . But anyway! Purposely came here for this dish as I'm a fan of salted egg yolk. What's even best? With cereal on top! fries were crispy too. Two words: Worth it. Price: $4.50

These guys here served some good western food here in a coffeeshop, and they looked and tasted like those you would find in a restaurant. Other than their tasty Tom Yum pasta and grill, this smoked duck salad was beautiful, appetising and good. Liked that the duck was well balanced with the zesty sauce and fruits. The corn flake topping was such a simple idea that added an extra crunch to the salad. A good starter dish even in Coffeeshop, and its low price just brought an extra smile to us.

Chef's Special Beef Slices Soup With Rice ($5) Want a good bowl of beef slices soup but yet didn't want to break the bank? This is the place for you as we have found out during our lunch at Bugis yesterday. The broth was very light and not too beefy while the special marinated beef slices was uber tender. Overall, a very comforting lunch that wraps you like a blanket during rainy days.

Beef Noodle Dry ($5) The sauce for this dry noodle option weren't as thick and zhup-ish as I'd like them to be. But I was surprised at how the light and slippery texture of the noodles had me really going non stop, till the end of the meal. And these sour pickles!! Ah I love them!!

$5 of Hainanese Beef Noodles Goodness. "Blanco Court" brings back fond memories, as I used to study near there and would buy cheap things from the while sale market. Not sure the relation of this shop to Blanco Court, but I liked its smooth savoury sauce and generous ingredients. Opp Bugis Junction.

Excellent Chili Porridge not available so I ordered sliced beef noodles dry and soup version, and fried chicken wings. I chose yellow noodles. The soup tasted robust and meaty. A bit salty but still good. I really like the dry version. The sauce was flavorful and covered the lye taste of yellow noodles very well. I was astounded by the amount of beef in the bowls. A good number of huge thick slices that were so tender. A few pcs were a bit tough to chew but considering the generous portions, I was willing to overlook it. Chicken wings were very juicy and well seasoned. I enjoyed them. I love love love the chili sauce. Very very spicy and aromatic. This was like the main for me. The noodles and chicken wings were just the sides! 🎃 Total bill $15.

Spring Chicken Meal [$12.80] FINALLY got around to Arnold’s and I’ve got to say that the raving reviews about it are no lies! Stellar fried chicken they serve up here - very lightly battered, absolutely crispy all around and meat was super tender and juicy (although really oily on some parts). There’s a queue and some waiting time needed but they fry these upon order, so hey, no complaints man. Our Spring Chicken Meal was good to share for 2 and came with the familiar sides of fries and coleslaw. Super sinful but worth the calories!

Fried Chicken Hands down, Arnold's fried chicken beats KFC/Popeyes/Texas Chicken/Nene/Jollibee/4Fingers (okay maybe not 4fingers lah) but you get my message.... Arnold's fried chicken is THE BEST 👏🏻 I'd recommend you to get the chicken pieces instead of the spring chicken and.... you can jolly well forget about your diet and calories intake. The chicken's skin is really crispy on the outside and the batter used (mix of spices and herbs) made the skin look so inviting. The meat inside was mouth-watering, well cooked and marinated. It wasn't dry at all, even the breast part was tender! It’s awesome and I can say without doubt, you will definitely love it. Coleslaw and mashed potatoes are not bad. Definitely better than KFC. But sadly the fries were meh. So were the drinks and desserts. Oh anyway, don't even bother buying their "ice kacang served with ice-cream". Because for the price that you are paying, you can get two bowls of ice kacang at your regular hawker centres lor please. You're welcome.
