I was SO pleasantly surprised by this hidden find. It looks like a regular themed cafe (bike-themed in this case) so I was expecting their stuff to be average at best. But to my amazement their coffee was pretty solid (I didn’t try, but all my friends thought the coffee was good) and the gelato was amazing. The roasted pistachio was roasty and nutty and thick, didn’t melt v quickly and wasn’t very sweet - it ticks all the boxes of good pistachio gelato. In fact I would place this as top 3 or 5 pistachio gelatos I’ve tried! The yuzu mint sorbet was great too, very refreshing, and the mint was a nice sidekick, not too strong - yuzu was the main flavour. The texture was also a bit sticky/stretchy, not really icy.

I was very blown away at the quality of the items this cafe offered, it’s a pity they’re located rather inconveniently for me, in the depths of Changi Village. But I think I would still make a trip there bc I want to bring others to try this amazing find.

Found ourselves strangely ending up at Changi Village for a coffee stop — was contemplating to head to Chock Full of Beans or Ciclo e Caffe but found ourselves winding up at the latter after noticing this rather interesting (and perhaps, rare?) cake which piqued enough interest for us to walk in for a cuppa.

The Indonesian Cheesecake, or some may call it Bolu Keju is vastly different from the usual New York-style Cheesecake, Basque Burnt Cheesecake or even the Japanese Light Cheesecake, so don’t come round expecting a mousse-y or fluffy soufflé-esque cheesecake here — the Indonesian Cheesecake is a cake that comprises of sponge cake that is dressed in vanilla fresh cream and grated cheese. Weird as it sounds, this would work well for those who loves cheese and likes a sweet-savoury combination of flavours — the grated cheese carried a savouriness akin to that of shredded mozzarella sold in packets in supermarkets, while the fresh vanilla cream provided a sweetness and texture that bound the grated cheese with the sponge cake that was sufficiently firm without being overly dry; just aptly dense that provides much of the structural integrity of the cake. It’s something that really quite hit the tastebuds for me — a cake which I wouldn’t mind having again.

Whilst being one of the lesser mentioned establishments in the cafe scene, Ciclo e Caffe is a spot that I found to be pretty chill — with folks behind the counter who constantly try to make their patrons feel at home here, the bicycle-themed cafe does give off some very relaxing vibes that would work well even for a day out alone, or for a spot for productive work to be done. They do actually have a second location with Space Singapore (co-shared with Burnt Cones) at The Sail @ Marina Bay as well — though I guess the Changi Village location is the one to hit for some quaint vibes that is away from all the hustle and bustle of the city.
