Back at @chaozhou.sg, this time to try their 𝗣𝘂𝗺𝗽𝗸𝗶𝗻 𝗙𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗣𝗼𝗿𝗿𝗶𝗱𝗴𝗲 ($6.90). Purists would probably prefer the basic Sliced Fish Porridge (which I reviewed last month), but for those who want an innovative take on a local hawker favourite, this is a good choice.

The orange-hued soup was of a slightly thicker consistency, exuding the fragrance and sweetness of pumpkin. Chunks of pumpkin were mixed with the fish slices in the soup, so there's a variety of textures and flavours with every mouth. A very satisfying meal indeed!

The beef is flavourful, tender and served with rice and sunny side egg.
The downside from this bowl is the rice grain too hard for me.

I ordered the Double fish. Using 2 different fish, batang and fried dori, served with light comforting broth and rice, served in traditional claypot.
don’t forget to try their chilli 🤩.

When it’s raining, a bowl of hot sliced fish soup just hits the spot.

AMK has a new Teochew porridge fish soup served in Chaozhou-sourced claypots and wooden ladles. The menu consists of five items as Sliced Fish, Double Fish, Seafood, Pumpkin/Taro Fish and Beef Bowl.

Sliced Fish Porridge ($5.90) consists of springy batang fish in a slightly cloudy broth that’s naturally sweet. Glad that they serve it in the claypot which helps to keep the soup warm longer though the porridge texture was slightly clumpy.

Instead of deep-fried taro, their version of Taro Fish ($6.90) is made of taro cubes mixed into the porridge. The porridge broth is much thicker and slightly more starchy, so perhaps noddles will fare better.

Funky stall selling fish soup, but I wasn't in the mood for that, so tried their beef bowl. $7 for essentially a zichar dish is kinda steep, but it was well executed. Good beef, strong flavours, lovely egg. It felt a bit restaurant quality. Shout out to the superb chilli.

This pot of creamy and rich pumpkin fish soup with little chunks of yam tastes so nourishing and hearty. I love it for it's unique pumpkin taste that makes it sweet and finished it to the last sip. For $6.90, it stands out amongst other fish soups - plus those slices of batang fish were thick and fresh.

Ps. This is just next to Bishan Park 2
