One of the few lovely cafes that are near my place! Dropped by this place with my mum after hearing good reviews about the waffles and indeed, the waffles are good. Crispy and light, just the way I like it.

The lavender ice-cream was rich and delightful, and it matched well with the refreshing berries/orange/grapefruit (this set is called Sweet Summer).

My mum got the Kaya set and it was great as well! Kaya goes surprisingly well with waffles.

Portions were quite big so it's pretty value for money ☺️ Friendly service, super cute cat decor 😸 In general, a nice place to chill/for brunch!

A really good well-balanced comfort cup of caffeine. So glad that we can now choose the beans for the coffee! Beans were from Ethiopia, Burundi and Kenya (tasting notes were: strawberries, dried prune and brown sugar).

One of my favourite places for waffles (crisp on the outside and soft on the inside) before I get myself a waffle maker (to experiment with). Unfortunately, they did not have the rock melon sorbet so we replaced it with the honey lavender ice-cream. Still perfect for the warm Sunday afternoon.

A quaint, cat-themed cafe highly recommended by my aunt (who insisted on bringing me here). The owners, Ken and Ellen, really put a lot of thought and love into the food and decor here. Waffles had a lovely crunch; great for those who love them extra crispy. Came with seasonal fruits at the side that were really fresh. But the winner for me was the dark chocolate ice cream – unsuspecting, yet impressive with its smooth and creamy texture, with a nice balance between bitter and sweet. Coffee here is great as well. If you ever need a chill place to hang out at, be it to read a book or people-watch, I highly recommend coming here! Will be back to try their main dishes soon.

Jurong Kechil is already home to so much good food, see Bukit Timah Market and Food Centre, Al-Azhar, Al-ameen, BTK, Revelry, Udders, Carpenter and Cook.
But this post is about a cafe before the war zone. CATfeine opened in May this year and I thought the name just scream cats and kitties, though none in sight.

They were sold out of the Honey Lavender ice cream which I intend to pair with my Honey B order of a waffle with whipped cream, slabs of butter, a scoop of sea salt caramel ice cream and sprinkles of speculoo cookie dust (who uses crumbs anymore πŸ™„) The seafood shepherd pie is so rich with mussels, clams, prawns, octopus that I wished there was more potato, not complaining, okay maybe a slice of bread might help.

The full range of ice cream flavours: Dark Chocolate, Vanilla, Sea Salt Caramel, Honey Lavender, Rock Melon Sorbet. Unfortunately, you can't order ice cream & "add on" a plain Homemade Buttermilk Waffle here, so we decided to go with something off their default waffle menu.

"Honey B" is the cheapest of the lot at $11, with a scoop of Sea Salt Caramel ice cream. You can swap the ice cream flavour to something else at no additional cost, which is what we did. Opted for the Dark Chocolate & Honey Lavender (additional $3 extra for the 2nd scoop). The latter was my favourite out of the 2, even though the bright purple hues scared me a little. The ice cream wasn't too sweet, & the lavender was quite strong. Mm mmmm, good. The Dark Chocolate wasn't terrible, just not as rich as I would've hoped for it to be.

Back to the Waffle Ding Dongs: Honey B comes with butter & whipped cream, which I conveniently swept to the side because that's not how I roll. Waffles were drizzled with honey, & the biscuit crunch was in a generous pile on the side.

The actual waffles themselves, oh boy. I've read some reviews that the waffles are too crispy for their liking, but TO EACH HIS OWN. I actually really freaking love them for being this way! They are so crispy on the outside, yet fluffy & fairly dense on the inside.

There is an option to add caramelised banana to the works (additional $1.50) but I dislike bananas with a passion so.... Nope.

Overall, this surprised me very much & I will return here to try their other dishes. Catfeine doesn't only serve desserts & coffee, but some brunch fare as well. Quite promising!
