With no physical store, it’s been quite a challenge to land a box of these baked goodies from Cassia. Delivery was ex and .. just wasn’t worth it especially when the bakes weren’t cheap to begin with! So, here’s a pro-tip! Get ‘em on Pickupp! The delivery costs are way more reduced than direct delivery from Cassia. The only downside is that you’ve got less selections compared to direct order through Cassia’s cococart order form tho. Unless you’re looking for a special edition box, the selections (limited) on pickupp are a good start to Cassia’s bakes!
Here, there’s signature vanilla financier, raspberry financier and blueberry financier. The texture and mouthfeel of Cassia’s financier lean towards that of a pound cake - minus the buttery and oiliness of course. It’s densely good, and I somehow felt that the almond powder/flour made this happen. I love the original best! Raspberry and blueberry versions came with real fruit bits and purée, great for those who enjoy fruit-y dessert
The caneles are the stars of the show, indeed. They had a crisp, hard exterior when heated up and then cooled (you must follow the instructions to reheat!). There’s this sense of odd satisfaction when you tap your fork against the crust and hear that crispy knock! The interior was dense and spongy, with core filled with matcha/speculoos etc. my favourite was the original rum!
