From the Burpple community

A standard Eggs Benedict but the Hollandaise sauce was pretty minimal and the poached egg was slightly overcooked, leading to quite a dry dish. We think their cakes are much better than their mains. Fortunately thereโ€™s the Burpple 1-for-1 Brunch deal so it made the food a lot more reasonably priced.

We visited on a Sunday afternoon and the place wasnโ€™t too crowded. The staff were friendly and the overall atmosphere of the cafe was warm and cozy.

Pretty standard breakfast set - each element was executed well. Nothing amazing or special though.

Honestly $28 seems quite high of a price tag for whatโ€™s actually on the plate, though there is no additional GST or service charge, which was a pleasant surprise. We used the Burpple 1-for-1 Brunch deal so it made it more reasonably priced.

If you like lemon meringue tarts, do give their lemon meringue cake a try - the lemon meringue, lemon curd and vanilla sponge was really refreshing. The only difference between the usual tarts and this cake is that the tarts are usually much more sour - this cake was more towards the sweet side, which I (and my sweet tooth) personally preferred.

Pistachio lovers - this is for you. The cake was dense, similar to a fruit or pound cake - but with pistachio bits embedded, adding that extra crunch. With the sweet pistachio cream all around and sour raspberry jelly in between - every bite was a burst of nutty and fruity. We enjoyed it very much. It is quite filling so do make some space in your tummy for it!

Ordered very standard brunch items such as big breakfast [$28], pulled pork eggs Benedict [$25] , french toast [$28] and smoked salmon eggs Benedict [$26]

The one that stood out to me was smoked salmon eggs benedict as the eggs were nicely poached and the salmon was well seasoned:)

Passionfruit tart [$8] had a good mix of citrus and sweetness while the banofee [$8] one was eye opening as i have never tried a combination of tiramisu and banana in the form of a tart

Raspberry lychee and rose chia sweet was suppppppper yummy 10/10 recommend!! Could taste all the flavours and the fake flowers definitely added a flavorful touch to it . Lemon meringue cake [$8] might be a little too sour for my liking :<

Ambience of the cafe was v old school and homely !! Had 1-1 deals for the mains, desserts and drinks but otherwise would be rather pricey for the tiny portions:โ€(

1-for-1 Beverage: We liked the ๐—œ๐—ฐ๐—ฒ๐—ฑ ๐—Ÿ๐—ผ๐—ป๐—ด ๐—•๐—น๐—ฎ๐—ฐ๐—ธ ($6) for its fruity profile, while the smooth and robust ๐—™๐—น๐—ฎ๐˜ ๐—ช๐—ต๐—ถ๐˜๐—ฒ ($6.50) was very palatable.

We also tried one of the pastries, ๐—ค๐˜‚๐—ฒ๐—ฒ๐—ป ๐—ฉ๐—ถ๐—ฐ ($6.50). Berries sitting on cream adorned a longish bun that boasted the crispy, flakey texture of a croissant. Not only did it look like royalty, it tasted exquisite too.

The pastries and coffees at @carpenterandcook impressed, and I'd return for them. Skip the minuscule mains.
